This is the most haunting/affecting of Nina Simone's songs, for me at least. (I actually discovered the original Johnny Mathis version through this one.. I like it, too, but there is no other song like Nina's WitW.)

Maybe a few kids listening to "Feeling Good" (another great song, don't get me wrong) will discover and have their lives changed by this incomparable track. Nah. Until Lady Gaga covers it, won't happen. :| ;)

I run free arts workshops with kids aged 10-16 and on speaking to them about their music tastes I was pleasantly surprised. There was even a Thelonious Monk fan among them - don't make a snap judgement on the young uns - they're not all uncultured, over-produced-pop-aholics. :)

I was waiting for my flight back to the US at Hong Kong airport and THIS SONG was playing in my music player. I was soooo entranced and zoned out staring blankly out the window that security had to wake me up from my trance and asked for my passport and questioned me to see if I was a suspected terrorist. I was fourteen years old and I was listening to Jocko on twelve eighty on the dial when I fell asleep and didn't wake up till around four in the morning. I was stunned - Nina Simone was on and she was doing "I Don't Want Him;You Can Have Him" and that was it for me - I could not get enough of this lady and still can't get enough. What a unique sound to her voice and that quick vibrato comes at you like a machine gun.  Absolutely amazing talent. There will never be another.
