My pups do that when they want out. He stares me down, I ask what he wants and hell say Out and then Ill ask again and he say I wanna go out, and runs for the back door and waits. He also says hungry if youre eating something eh wants and will put his head in your lap sometimes and say I love you then lick your face and lay back down. Dogs are amazing, got my cat to say hello in the mornings too. Just takes patience and love to break a language barrier.

Yeah my Shepard mix used to say "out "and walk to the back door. He said it clear as a bell, and when he saw that we weren't getting up to let him out, he'd come and sit in front of us and say " out" over and over till we got up. It was the only time he made that particular sound. So ,yes, animals communicate.
