Alan, the watch towers i'm confused about. Are you concluding that there were no watch towers during the time Auschwitz was in use? Because I'm pretty sure watch towers were there. Guards would watch over prisoners and deportations on the watch towers inside the camp. So that I'm confused about.
@SamLuvsJamesDean There are two types of watch tower - permanent and temporary - the same principle was used on the DDR border. The permanent ones can be seen in other films. Temporary ones may have been used when large numbers of people were coming in although clearly they are not there all the time. Certain photographs were taken by the SS from a height too. What we see here is inside the camp - not on the perimeter of it.
Hi Alan, as far as I am aware, Dr Wladislaw Dering is the only prisoner that I'm aware of who was released from Auschwitz I to work at Clauberg's clinic which I believe was in Vienna. Of course, he was a notorious character - who castrated dozens if not hundreds of Jews. Jack Oran (Yakov Skurnik) talks about him in his book. I, too, am not aware of anyone being released from Birkenau, at least not in my research!

Your camera is perfectly good enough for the purpose, but you need to hold it steady as much as possible. It's tough to talk and walk and shoot at the same time.

The level of argumentation Irving is using here is unreal! There are other pictures taken in the period 40-45 that shows watch towers in this area. Besides, Irving does not seem to be very updated on Auschwitz judging from all the questions he asks about what things are etc. if he claims to be a authority on the matter. The incredible thing is Irving had just got out of prison when this was made, and he makes several observations on this tape that could easily get him locked up again in Poland. "Holocaust denial" is illegal in Poland (along with probably denying the earth is the center of the universe, practising witchcraft, and aiding the devil). I have asked people who were in Auschwitz about the towers and there is no clear pattern. This indicates to me that the towers were moved around or set up as per requirements.
There is no doubt that there were watchtowers but on the other side of the tracks.
Furthermore these towers can clearly be seen in photographs from sub camps. A similar type of portable watchtower was also used by the DDR (see my films on the DDR).
I suspect that they may have been moved according to requirements.
Having said that I also think that there may be a certain amount of over artifacting by the museum.

Further to my earlier comment, a photograph on page 70 of _Oswiecim-Brzezinka_ by Adam Bujak, identified as "Rampa kolejowa na terenia obozu w Brzezince" taken soon after the Soviet liberation of the camp clearly shows 4 watch towers on the Northern edge of the " platform". These towers are of modest size and design and would not have appeared in the high altitude aerial photographs taken by the Allies. Mr. Irving should conduct proper research before making unsubstatiated accusations.
Furthermore these photographs are accesible to all in the museum archive which is the building on the left immediately after the gate in the base camp.
The same towers are also visible in the works of artist Wladyslaw Siwek (1907 - 1983)and Francis Reisz (b.1907) who were imprisoned in the camp and whose drawings date from shortly after liberation and long before the museum was established.
The same towers can also be seen in war time photographs of the Trzebinia sub camp.
and the subsequent imprisonment of Germar Rudolf for incontrovertibly proving that humans could not have been killed there how can you justify making it?

I don't think anybody DENIES the holocaust, but there are many (including myself) who question the 6 million figure, which is millions more than what it should be.

Harry, ths is a good point. I think that at least one watch tower is evident from a point roughly level with the fourth field at Auschwitz. Furthermore these towers were moveable. (I have a photograph of a moveable tower I found in a pile of junk in the fomer east Germany.)
Irving states that the platform watchtowers in Birkenau are fakes and do not appear in the Allied aerial photographs. Four square features appear that might be their roofs. An E-W ground-level picture of the platform from a point E of the track bifurcation shows two watchtowers about 4 meters high right by the fence. It is in *Les Bourroux-SS Et Leurs Victimes: Auschwitz 1940-1945* Vienne 1963, Mr. Irving once again displays his abysmal ignorance.
Ten minutes on the ramp at Birkenau and Mr. Irving is already an expert on the camp. He refers to the administrators of the Museum as "stupid people." Is the pot calling the kettle black?
Rather than take down the fake watchtowers, i have no doubt following a quick job in photoshop and they will appear in a new displayed photo. The authorities over the years at Auschwitz have given the deniers a field day over such things. The level of argumentation Irving is using here is unreal! There are other pictures taken in the period 40-45 that shows watch towers in this area. Besides, Irving does not seem to be very updated on Auschwitz judging from all the questions he asks about what things are etc. if he claims to be a authority on the matter. Ps; your video would have benefitted from a better sound quality ds.

The watch tower argument is very weak. By the fact that they can be seen in some photographs and not others clearly demonstrates that they were moved around according to requirements.
As for sound quality, please send me a better camera and I will use it.

The incredible thing is Irving had just got out of prison when this was made, and he makes several observations on this tape that could easily get him locked up again in Poland. "Holocaust denial" is illegal in Poland (along with probably denying the earth is the center of the universe, practising witchcraft, and aiding the devil). You could try showing Irving a little respect, like by letting him finish a sentence.

He's walking, filming, & narrating while Irving interjects questions. Of course he's going to stumble. But he answers all the questions. He admits when he doesn't know the answer. And he concedes when Mr. Irving makes a good point. I disagree with Alan Heath's conclusions about the Holocaust but I have more respect for him than I do for any traditional holocaust historian. He's obviously very intelligent and any 'stumbling' you hear is a result of the unscripted unrehearsed nature of his work.

It is hard to imagine just how horrific it must have been for the Jews and others herded off to these death camps. I still have trouble trying to comprehend how the Nazis could have become so evil, actually believing exterminating so many innocent people was the right thing to do!!! I just hope we have seen the last of the Nazis, if anyone is subhuman, it was them.

Not entirely.
The IG Farben plant existed before the war only it was not owned by IG Farben who took it over after the occupation commenced. It still exists today.
Slave labour from Auschwitz was used in these factories which would have included things like additional construction work.
The industrial area of Oswiecim today is on the same site and still accounts for around one third of the town.

I have asked people who were in Auschwitz about the towers and there is no clear pattern. This indicates to me that the towers were moved around or set up as per requirements.

There is no doubt that there were watchtowers but on the other side of the tracks.
Furthermore these towers can clearly be seen in photographs from sub camps. A similar type of portable watchtower was also used by the DDR (see my films on the DDR).
I suspect that they may have been moved according to requirements.
Having said that I also think that there may be a certain amount of over artifacting by the museum.

So much fuss about Irving, he guy is just reviewing scientificaly historical distortion which at the ed will benefit the victims of holocaust, because it will be more accurate and more unrefutable. Further to my earlier comment, a photograph on page 70 of _Oswiecim-Brzezinka_ by Adam Bujak, identified as "Rampa kolejowa na terenia obozu w Brzezince" taken soon after the Soviet liberation of the camp clearly shows 4 watch towers on the Northern edge of the " platform". These towers are of modest size and design and would not have appeared in the high altitude aerial photographs taken by the Allies. Mr. Irving should conduct proper research before making unsubstatiated accusations.

Furthermore these photographs are accesible to all in the museum archive which is the building on the left immediately after the gate in the base camp.
The same towers are also visible in the works of artist Wladyslaw Siwek (1907 - 1983)and Francis Reisz (b.1907) who were imprisoned in the camp and whose drawings date from shortly after liberation and long before the museum was established.
The same towers can also be seen in war time photographs of the Trzebinia sub camp.

First of all there are people who deny the holocaust (as you can see by some people who have written on some of my videos. What they are denying however is hard to pin down. As for the figure - there were more than three million Jewish people in Poland alone before the war and in 1946 there were around 200,000 - most of which came from the Soviet Union.

3. I cannot answer that properly because I think it is wrong to imprison people for denying the blatantly obvious. But David Irving was imprisoned not for holocaust denial but for the law on reactivating the Nazi party in Austria.

4)All those figures are pre-war. Don't you wonder that maybe the 200000 post war figure may have been a result of Polish Jews migrating away to other countries such as palestine(now Israel) or even as far away as Argentina! Or that maybe even that figure is a lie just like the 6 million.

There are photographs taken by the Nazis from above the heads of arriving persons on the platform:
A video on this same website shows that the pictures were taken from at least 2 meters above the heads of the poor wretches below.
Where does Mr. Irving presume that that these pictures were taken? Or does he believe that his beloved Nazis could levitate?

Harry, ths is a good point. I think that at least one watch tower is evident from a point roughly level with the fourth field at Auschwitz. Furthermore these towers were moveable. (I have a photograph of a moveable tower I found in a pile of junk in the fomer east Germany.)

Irving states that the platform watchtowers in Birkenau are fakes and do not appear in the Allied aerial photographs. Four square features appear that might be their roofs. An E-W ground-level picture of the platform from a point E of the track bifurcation shows two watchtowers about 4 meters high right by the fence. It is in *Les Bourroux-SS Et Leurs Victimes: Auschwitz 1940-1945* Vienne 1963, Mr. Irving once again displays his abysmal ignorance.

Rather than take down the fake watchtowers, i have no doubt following a quick job in photoshop and they will appear in a new displayed photo. The authorities over the years at Auschwitz have given the deniers a field day over such things. Why on earth don't they take the fake towers down - is it maybe because they want to invite the imagination of terror? Who decides this? Who is in charge?

There may have been a tower of this type to the right of the unloading ramp close the the path towards gas chambers 4 + 5. But you are right they give additional arguments for the revisionists. Having lost all other arguments will they now claim no towers, no holocaust..?
