crossing the red sea with the adverts is actually a really good (& strong) album. i think it stands with the pistols and the clash with ease.....it's just not name-dropped the same.

John Lydon always used Polystyrene and Kate Bush as artists he admired who espoused the individual creative philosophy he felt 'punk' should have been about rather than those who merely copied him and brought nothing to the party except more uniformity and unoriginality.

Spittin' On Grannies would have been a great name for a punk band. Marc Bolan was right about the punk bands adding strings in five years as the the early eighties with the new romantics, futurists and all those who came out of punk were using more sophisticated musical sounds and instruments.
