I've held back on the poppy comments, though I believe it represents a stain on Irelands fight for independence which is understandable........they seem happy to take money from the united Europe though.
Yours is a lovely and sweet version of one of my favorite traditional folk melodies. You sang it as if it were an old bittersweet memory of a young damsel you might’ve known for a moment. I really loved it. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Fair play lad, 'tis a nice version, and it does my humanity good to hear an, presumably(?)English man singing this song. Some of our songs have anger, hate, and/or despair in them, we have a harsh and terrible history that even still many English people I've met(many of them friends) still haven't been educated about. However our music in general is from the beauty of the soul, from love and the human spirit, and music is how we'll bridge the gaps between our borders and our past,an Irish musician
the most beaufitul version of this song. it must be something amazing in the way you sing it when you make me cry everytime. so simple, so gentle... just perfect.
very very nicely done. thanks for a fine performance. It's sad that bad blood that runs deep just won't go away so that things like this can't simply be enjoyed by anyone who wishes to do so. My wife and I are canadian but we play irish trad tunes, and we've learned that if you're not careful you can start a pub brawl for playing a certain tune in the presence of certain company. It's utter nonsense. Beautiful job on this beautiful song.
I know there has been a lot of 'political' comments here......but I honestly I sang it cause it's a really nice song.....with no offensive intend.......hey all Irish people should celebrate their music, cause they have some great tunes
First of all can I say the Galway Shawl is a lovely song and you play and sing well indeed Sir. The poppy is an emblem which stands for blood shed by many of all nationalities on the Battle fields of Europe these men some boys shed their blood I respect each and every single one and while I am a Irishman I will wear a poppy and respect those who had a different religion and colour of skin than I. Not to respect the poppy shows a immaturity but age will sort this out in time. Do not judge others
I just feel like you want us to line-dance to this song. Dont even mention The Foggy Dew whilst wearing a poppy. Why did you wear it while singing this song?Do your homework. ps your voice is ok.
A computer friend of mine says this address will now come up for people who google on the words 'BNP', 'Nazi', 'Nigga', so as this fella can now get his rightful audience! Good luck to him.
The person involved should take this video down. Wearing a poppy and singing his version of a beautiful Irish song. What a tosser! Is it an ego thing with him or what?
I get me mates to watch this (with the volume turned down) to see the picture of himself and his fascist poppy. It might as well be a swastika, we all agreed.
Get a life you facist I am a Irishman and support the right of those who wear it as I wear it Nice Song as well isn't it? Anyway stop being a silly bigot and get a grip pal
You need to learn your history the British used the Protestant and Roman Catholics of Ireland the promised the Prods a new country NI and they promised the RCs a United Ireland but they sacrifice the whole lot of them from the 16th and 36th Divisions on the battlefields of Europe and dead men cant fight if they do not return home Respect your Irish Poppy
I know my history buddy and whether you like it or not 'I' as an Irishman respect the poppy and what it signifies Many died for the freedom you and I have today but memories are short and respect is not given where due While I am not a fan of Britain or its policies on warfare now or in past years I respect those who fought and those who die All the men in Ireland of both religions where wrong to go and fight Englands war RESPECT anothers opinion Respect the poppy and those who died
Why have I not a clue? Because my view is different from yours? The only way a lasting United Ireland is ever going to be acheived is by making friends with former eniemies and forgetting the deeds done in past years by older generations from all religions and mainland Britain. It is easy to continue conflict and poke at old wounds and sores - it is much better to heal these wounds and sores and recognise everyone's opinion regardless of their colour or religion Toleration & Respect & Peace 2all
I've held back on the poppy comments, though I believe it represents a stain on Irelands fight for independence which is understandable........they seem happy to take money from the united Europe though.
