Although he's only useful to bring the player a new element of challenge.

The game DOES have 4 unlockable characters. But, the only DLC we've been getting with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are just a bunch of teams the developers came up with, called Shadow Battles. Sure, we can download two characters, and alternate costumes, but all we've been getting thus far are those Shadow Battles. DLC's aren't too bad, if they're not disappointing, or completely meaningless.

It's just Capcom's usual parade of making the same game again, but adding things. I don't think Capcom fans really want another of this game. I think they'd much rather see a new Mega Man game, since they already cancelled two big planned projects, Legends 3 being probably the more anticipated of them.

Street Fighter 4 wasn't all that bad. Though, I'll admit I'm guilty of buying the resale with Super Street Fighter 4. They've done this whole thing since the 90s. But back then, it made sense, since stuff like DLC didn't surface then. Now, not much of an excuse to make Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition, or Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, or Super Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Turbo Hyper Fighting whatever.

Capcom's strategy was ideal in the 90s because annual arcade cabinet updates were the norm, so they could always fall back on those. Even this game - with no new stages and half of the same characters - was worth being made if only for Cyclops' new lines. Those unused bottom corners in MvC3 are the purest indicators of today's wasted opportunities.

The only fortunate part of this is that the updates aren't worth as much, but the effect works better in an arcade.

That's actually really true. People underestimate Dan because his moves aren't as good as the other characters, but his attacks are acttually pretty strong, no matter what game he's in. He's combos suck though outside of MvC style games.
