The C5R was pure ownage in ALMS. I love it when the competition got so dominated by CR that they had to "penalize" the team with weight ballasts just to level the playing field.

I don't think you're allowed to have more then 2 or 3 litre engines, if you turbocharge it. The Lola P2's, that are powered by the AER engine is only a 2 litre car. The rules just dosn't allow more.
So to get the rock reliability that the C5R has, it's the better choice to go for a big, non turbocharged, slow spinning V8. Their only problem is that they is a bit down on power against the DBR9's.
