Dont know if its any use to you guys but bought the whole set of spender from the site w w w.y o r k s h i r e r i p p e r.n e t Picture quality very good too and all menued.Hope this helps.
Spender. A classic. Can we petition the Alibi channel to re-run it. Was sad to hear Sammy Johnston died. R.I.P. Sammy. You made me laugh out loud as a kid.
i met jimmy once in the criciters pub in north london near regents park in the eighties . i was with some friends who new jim as he had done some charity work for them. he came over said hello and bought us all a drink. only stopped for a few minutes as he had to be some where else . lovely bloke. thanks jim for the pint.
I have all the episodes on DVD got them off eBay. Pirate copies of course. Watch them from start to finish each year. Fantastic series. It was quite a northern drama. Could see why people down south wouldn't get it. It was a showcase for us up north the acting the scenery tyne bridge the headland old Hartlepool the boro
Yes Jimmy did appear in an episode of Minder. The episode was called "car-lot baggers". Jimmy played a gypsie who was fitted up by a bent politician.lol.
You gotta love him.

This was great from the days when TV was good. I wish they would bring Spender back.

great theme tune - does anyone know if it's available please?
andwat041160 2 years ago
Sadly not. It was specially done for the show by Tony McCananey, who incidentaly plays his friend and bandmember (the chap on the walking stick)
