  • kiss grace's nipples? back in the day i would have eaten 6 inches of her shit to see where it came from.

  • If I had to pick one band to listen to for the rest of my days, I would pick Jefferson Airplane.

  • I want to kiss your nipples for peace during a light show at the Avalon ballroom.

  • One of the 1st LPs I ever bought, still have it! Considering all the places I've gone in the last 40plus years ... remarkable!!

  • "Prices like that make a grown man holler," lol Balin has just turned 25 when this was recorded.

  • College kids.

  • Classic album through & through! Gotta love 216mph too!

  • @BeatleStone I'm trying to come up with a response to this but all I can concur is that you're not a real Airplane fan. Can you actually listen a song like "Today" and say it's a downside? Jesus. That should be blocked from view not in the highest rated.

  • The Jefferson Airplane, by the time their next two albums came out, were the 2nd biggest draw in Americia, only the Beatles being bigger. Hardly worth comparing to the Dead in that aspect.

  • @quanalocho

    the dead were over rated

  • I listened to them on A back then in the early 70's : it was great.

  • Marty Balin founded Jefferson Airplane. Paul Kantner was much more of a natural leader type and pretty much filled that role later on. There were four great singer/writers in this band, hence the vocals being divided up mostly according to who wrote the song. The only two members who did not sing, to the best of my knowledge, were Jack Casady (bass) and Spencer Dryden (drums). All the members added significantly to each song, making JA greater than the sum of it's parts.

  • @danhughart

I agree with everything you said, the composer of the song would sing it too. I'd like to add that Spencer sang a song he wrote called "A song for all seasons" which appears on "Volunteers", his last album with the band.

  • @BeatleStone You mean Grace was the vocalist on Somebody to Love and White Rabbit. Pretty much their two most popular hits. :) Grace is as much a part of Jefferson Airplane as any of the other members.

  • i love that trippy guitar solo....ahhh

  • i think marty being lead is a good idea. graces background singing kinda doesnt seem to fit in. this is just my opinion.

  • strawberry alarm clock were crap.....give me The Pretty Things and Small Faces

  • love this song!

  • one of the best albums from the 60's. they are one of the best bands in the world.

  • Marty Balin's voice has more nuance thyan Grace. She's a shouter. The Airplane crashed after Marty left.

Jorma's solo became the template for all psychedelic bands after this cut.

Imagine, $65 for two ounces of pot.

    King Suji

  • kingsuji

I remember $15 an oz. Thai in 66

  • jesus. i get an ounce for 130. 65 for 2 ounces is like the exact opposite. haha

  • ha ha ha i get mine cheaper

    but hey pot is pot

  • @kingsuji Yep. In fact, in one interview, Grace said she pretty much tried to sing the songs as written while Paul and Marty did a lot of improvising with their vocals. However, that still made them the finest vocal front line in rock.

  • i agree with beatle Stone, the songs would be better if Grace Slick was the lead vocals

  • Disagree on that one. I like Marty on this. He was a great writer too.

  • yeah i guess i kinda agree with you now on this one

  • yeah, ive always wished for that

but i rather like the harmony in this song

  • best album ever!

  • LOVELY SONG

  • Great song!
