  • that couch is a whore

  • Poor Norm-he gets trapped in these horrible sitcoms, when he's really funny just on his own.

  • 12 people should be in jury duty

  • Norm always comes off as very awkward when he's reading from a script but is a genius when he can be spontaneous.

  • Penelope Ann Miller FTW!!

  • why the fuck do his shows get cancelled...

  • @infestedbigmac Norm doesn't appeal to teenage girls or soccer moms, who pretty much decide what's entertaining.

  • "They think it has something to do with pugilism but it is actually not."

"It has nothing to do with pugilism."

    "Wait what's pugilism?"

    Haha, ridiculous!"

  • I wouldn't say he enjoys making people uncomfortable.

  • @nicolasvaillancourt3

I really don't think Norm would do well as a talk show host. To keep this to a single post, I won't go into why I don't think his style of humor (the way of being funny that is most natural to him) would fit well for a talk show (I don't think it'd appeal to a lot of people—low ratings). I'll just say the main reason: Norm's personality isn't well suited for hosting a talk show. There's a lot more to a host's job than being funny. He wouldn't be comfortable interviewing.

  • @mattsemail82 What it comes down to is that Norm enjoys making people uncomfortable and talk show hosts are meant to do the opposite.

  • @nicolasvaillancourt3 He has his own show.

  • They censored out "God" but not "Damn" ... WHAT!?

  • Funniest six minutes and fourteen second in the entire history of The Daily Show.

  • ow Norm, my canadian inferiority complex :( why do you make it hurtttt

  • hilarious norm, but im Canadian buddy and i gotta say ouch for bailing on ur country

  • @footytang This was recorded before it was hip to hate on America so I'm sure his opinion would change today. I'm kidding. Canada is a fine country; when I visited (Nova Scotia) it reminded me of what America could be if only our politicians would pull their head out of their asses.

  • damn, even in 2003, TV quality was so shitty

  • @mashmiles YouTube is not a representative of what TV quality was like in every year. It depends on how it was recorded, if the video was compressed, and what year it was uploaded to YouTube. This video is 360p, so it's not original quality. And uploads from the 80s and 90s are taken from old deteriorating VHS tapes, so they also look worse than they really were.

  • other way around; back in the day the ones that floated were the witches, but your point is taken

  • @mongolenpup I'm not sure Norm would be fit for superfame. It always seemed to me he prefers to be that awkward, semi funny comedian persona (that becomes genius in contexts like these). He can't act for shit, agreed.

  • @lulospawn

I agree that he's not fit for "superfame", but that's because most people can't pick up what he does. They miss the irony of his entire delivery. And "semi-funny"?? He's funnier than everybody else, and it seems to be easy for him... watch most any of his Letterman appearances or his most recent time on the Daily Show, he just slays

  • Norm is one of the very few people who truly does not give a fuck.

  • @devourerofbabies AND NOT A SINGLE FUCK WAS GIVEN THOSE DAYS

  • i predict when dave letterman steps down, norm macdonald will (should) take his place

  • Comment removed

  • You are so right! Norm is the perfect person who could succeed Dave. They have utter respect for each other and Norm is the only comedian who would keep the show at the same level of creative genius. Well done!

  • He should continue a career in voice over

  • "why'd you have to bring that up?" says Norm lol. Most people don;t know he was a huge underground poker player an some say that the writer of rounders got his inspiration for the movie while watching Norm play poker in these underground poker houses in New York.

  • "That clip didnt seem that entertaining"

  • Poor Norm-they always put him on some godawful sitcom when his real strength is just talking straight.

  • "it's a goddamned whore" lmfao!

  • Norm's new show starts on April 12. On Comedy Central i think

  • @juffan He's also currently hosting High Stakes Poker

  • I don't know about anyone else but I definitely notice when Norm isn't on TV. Everything he has done is the funniest thing ever. A brilliant one-of-a-kind sense of humor and highly underrated.

  • These two guys' comedy works together FLAWLESSLY.

  • That's my dream too Norm!

  • Norm needs to do more improv

  • in the first 3 second "Johnnie" wasn't even smiling, but when Norm came and told a Joke. he was smiling and laughing like a lunatic.

    (no offence "Johnnie")

  • norm doesn't live under a roof but under a bridge

  • the kind of guy everyone wants to drink a beer with

  • if norm macdonald had his own late night show he would be bigger than carson!!

  • ""I'D FUCK IT!" LMMFAO! Somebody should put that on a T-Shirt.

  • Norm is better than Amy Poeler and even Kristen Wiig, and Tina Fey, and all those dudes on SNL whose name I do not know.

  • @waitingformypopcorn ya your right they need to give him a talk show.

  • The Daily Show should have tickers

  • who's watching this bcuz wow is down, thumb up

  • Norm is one of the top 5 funniest people alive

  • norm's humor and personality is too original/weird for sitcoms

  • for years i didnt like the word bootylicious" lmao!

  • Norm needs his own talk show

  • They only bleep out "God" in the phrase "God damn whore" haha

  • Prime Minister? More like Crime Minister and/or Cry Minister

  • "i'd fuck it"

  • he has a later appearance on the daily show where he jokes about Steve Irwin's death. pretty funny but doesn't seem to be on youtube anymore

  • haha, norm first talks about pugilism and then after jon says it he asks him what it means. classic.

  • i have been a huge norm fan and i have seen almost all his videos on youtube so could anyone suggest a similar comedian to him who says lots of stories and stuff

  • @jacksparrow011235813 Nobody has the delivery timing of Norm, but Adam Carolla tells a lot of stories, and so does Matt Besser. George Carlin is a dif type comedy but very funny as well...

  • @jacksparrow011235813

Not a comedian but another person I could sit and watch interviews with for a while is Frank Zappa.

  • Give Norm is own talk show.

  • "is not a witch" hahaha

  • I would like to see Norm McDonald hosting the Academy Awards. It would be refreshing and good for all the Hollywood ego's to be confronted with somebody who does not suck up to everbody and trying too hard to be politically correct. Ricky Gervais would probably be brilliant as well and Jon Stewart did a great job as well a couple of years ago.

  • This Guy is so loved by his peers its like he turns them into children again thinking up funny shit.

  • He was a quiet guy

  • I am very much a good man just like Norm.....he had a room beside me once

  • "what to you think about the couch, I'd fuck it" awesome classic norm.

  • "That clip wasn't that entertaining"

That's exactly what I was thinking. He's hilarious.

  • One of my favorite comedians ever!!!!1

  • Btw JoelMatton you should put the daily show in the title and as a tag. I'm shocked that I've never seen this

  • Did you know that Brian Williams said that NBC Nightly News sends a lot of its bits to The Daily Show before they air them, so Jon Stewart and his team can point out errors? Everyone knows that Jon Stewart is one of the most respectable people around. You would never be able to point out anything that he's said (aside from jokes, obviously) that isn't true. You're an idiot.

  • @philliesphan312

If you think for a second that Stewart thinks he is a real journalist........you have not only taken the bait....you swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

  • "TV is better with Norm MacDonald on it"

  • norm is conservative

  • no he isn't faggot he's basically apolitical, he's just pro-life and who gives a shit anyway

  • actually, he's conservative.

  • @hughugh

Yes, he is. And I'm not. And I don't care that he is and neither should you.

  • why do so many people say norm doesnt know who he is?

  • norm's my ace boon coon

  • "TV is better when Norm Macdonald is on it."

  • Damn right.

  • @knarisa We should have a Norm Macdonald channel. Every provider will carry it, 24/7, live, and he just GOES

  • it's a goddamn whore

  • Norm Macdonald was before his time.

    HIS TIME IS NOW!!!!

  • So tired of all the uptight talk show hosts. this one is no exception. fucking overrated. Norm Mcdonald is maybe one of the best guests ever.

  • MacDonald is hilarious, should get more work!

  • he should replace the failure show that is late night with jimmy fallon.

  • o hell ya

  • norm is so cool

    underrated

    hes HILARIOUS

  • For the people, myself included who simply cannot understand Norm's relative lack of success:

'No man ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.' - H.L. Mencken

...why Bill Engvall, Carlos Mencia, and George Lopez are all multimillionaires.

  • Is it me or does every host of any show he's been in respects and admires him? What an honor for these guys to paise your talent.

  • You are absolutely right, every single major show host, Letterman, Stewart, Conan etc is totally cracking up at his jokes and seem to genuinely admire the guy and wish he was seen more on TV!!! He got to be good and he is damn good.

  • I've gotten the same impression, Letterman has more genuine warmth for Norm than any other guest I've seen, Conan goes nuts for him, and Jay seems to love him too.

I think they all know he's just a really funny and smart guy who almost always delivers.

  • yaaaaaaay daily show and norm macdonald! now just put ODB up there performing in the background and its perfect

  • search youtube for

    Norm on The ________ Factor - 1/2/08

are you sure hed vote for obama?

  • Yeah, he's said he would.

Mostly due to Sarah Palin being a mental patient, which is understandable.

  • He supported McCain at first, but later said he was supporting Obama because he was concerned about Sarah Palin's VP status.

  • boyyy i looked that up and was very disappointed ):

  • id fuck it

  • Norm is the most underrated Tv personality ever. They keep putting him in sit coms, he's not good in those, he is good in natural settings. Probably the best.

  • couldn't agree more

  • i thought "Norm" was hilarious... maybe cause thats when i was first introduced to him....

  • @ffcloud321 Do you think he should have a talk show?

  • @ffcloud321 He is not of the chosen people, no room for goyims on tv anymore

  • whats the songs name at 6:08 ?

  • He is one of my Top 1 comedians. I WIN!

  • holy shit my speakers.. Norm is on my top 10 of comedians

  • how about norm hosts weekend update from now on?

    he never should have left.

  • or norm hosting the daily show

  • eh... I could see Norm replacing Jimmy Fallon on Late Night before that happens.

  • He didn't leave he was fired.

  • Durr.

  • sorry but he is hilarious on interviews (doing improv) and also he wrote most of the weekend update jokes himself. he also wrote the movies he has been in and helped write all tv shows.

he is a comedian, moron, not a comic actor. he creates his material and that is why he is in showbiz. what, you thought he made it because of his good looks or acting talent?

  • Comment removed

  • To each, his own.

I like Norm because he's like a fusion of my friend's retired mailman dad and his unintentionally hilarious stories from his Lazy Boy, mixed with a drunken republican. Also, Norm's not afraid to piss off the PC lynchmob - who I HATE.

Also, his style is partly "anti-comedy" (see Bob's roast or Stern's show, where he discusses this concept) while being vaguely Kaufman-esq (as pretentious as that sounds).

Norm's the anti-hipster and his comedy is akin to that of the late 70's

  • norm is great, but don't make it some political thing

he has said over and over he doesn't know anything about politics and hates politicians. but he has some conservative views some liberal - he would have voted for obama if he could have voted.

and not all liberals are "pc" at all. most POEPLE are pc about things, lib or con. cons get touchy about religion or patriotism and are very pc about that, so it's just a people thing not lib or con

david cross is ultra liberal and NEVER pc

  • david cross is ultra awesome

  • You almost sound like you know what you're talking about.

  • as the show got canceled later that night

  • they should just sign him at some talkshow were hes the 1st guest EVERY NIGHT

    i know id watch

  • LOL I agree!! I just saw his interview with Conan and thought it was the funniest moment on the tonight show so far

  • norm needs to stop doing acting gigs. he is much better just being himself.

  • I'd watch a 24 hour feed of someone following him around with a video camera.

  • that could be the greatest idea Ive ever heard.

  • Hey, can you get that volume a bit higher?

  • haha. just like norm.

  • "Norm Macdonald got more applause than America!"

    Sounds about right!

  • They are both great. AND smart.

Plus the couch has "an alluring come hither look". What more to you want?

  • why is everyone so bitter these guys are the best thing tv has to offer

  • did the crowd die this interview was probably better than the rest of this daily show episode yet they didnt laugh at anything

  • lmao he'd fuck the couch! lol i'd fuck HIM! XDDDD he is pretty cute

  • i love this guys voice, i've always gone for that nasaly voice i guess

  • Canada's Boxing Day is America's Black Friday... more or less

  • Thats the first I heard of it aswell

  • wtf

There is no Boxing day in America?

i`ve been living here for 4 years and haven`t noticed

  • Watch out, duck!

  • I love how he asks what "pugilism" means when he is the first to mention it.

  • isn`t celine dion`s "OLD DUDE" rich on his own? i mean she was given a record deal by him
