I have not played a game in so long that has deprived me yet proved worth of my efforts. A game focused not only on the satisfaction of victory but the very core of art within music, landscape and story telling, which can only really be felt in this game. Actually to only call this a game would be an understatement. This is a masterpiece. It will be a very, very long time before another could even amount to the perfection that this fictional world is.

Makes me laugh. Turns out, te light is evil and the darkness is good. Gwyn turned to madness by clinging to the fire to long as Pygmy formed darkness with his soul and tried to free humanity from Gwyn's light.

@crazybalogna The best way to describe them would probably be "god" and "demigods" respectively. Humans seem to originate from Undead possessing the Dark Soul. It's open to interpretation, certainly.

By the way, the "furtive pygmy" is Humanity (as in human-ness), which is described in-game as a black sprite in physical form. Humanity separates Humans and normal Undead from Demons and Hollows. So human essence was born from Fire as well.

@PowerOfScience I was thinking that the pygmy IS the Dark Soul itself: Humanity (what you collect) being a manifestation of the Dark Soul. (Humanities are described as "black sprites" by their description in the game; hence, the Dark Soul is a "pygmy.") Either interpretation doesn't really matter though; the point gets across either way.

@927541 Except maybe Demons: Demon-ness doesn't seem to have to do as much with Humanity or lack of it as it does with evil soul-stealing. But since a lot of Demons originate from the Witch of Izalith, these Demons seem to draw their power from Fire as well, just a different aspect (the Flame of Chaos instead of the Dark Soul).
