United Airlines 767-300 Landing in Kahului on 02

Kahului Airport approaches are generally bumpy. The pilots I have spoken with say landing at Kahului is a cake walk compared to other air strips and airports they have landed in.

@britishairwayspilot1 Yeah, the 764's have the extra door just forward of the wing, -300's don't. This one doesn't. But I'm not going to lie, at first I thought it could have been a -400.

@thumblesswonder We take flight 3 from ORD Chicago, and thats a 777-200 and its a MIRACLE that you can land that big of a plane on that short of a runway! So we never complain about the landings. Mahalo.

i think, that the plane lost the bumpy part in the middle of the flight :D

@FLLspotter It's the darn trade winds, for the most part. Flying from the mainland, especially Seattle (where we fly out of), unless you take the red-eye you won't get to Maui until the afternoon when the trade winds kick up. I've been flying for over 30 years and all of my roughest landings have been at Kahului. I haven't been there in a while so it was before there were direct flights from Seattle and we had to take the inter-island flights, which just makes you get there that much later.

That's a good landing,Them United Pilot's they are best in the industry.Nice control and firm. I have seen the winds gust up to 40 knots.

man that was a Beauty. Greaser for that size of airport/runway. the 763 is a big airplane, especially for a smaller sized airport like PHOG. Great video too. the 763 is a beautiful aircraft thats for sure
