The cloud chamber I remember was one I bought from Edmund Scientific. It was very simple - a clear plastic container, with the top painted black on the inside. There was a small bolt through the bottom, the tip of which was painted with a radioactive material. If I remember, all I had to do was wet the inside of the top with alcohol, affix the lid to the container, turn it upside down, and then set it on top of a piece of dry ice. It worked quite well.
Sounds like it! The isotope was probably lead and worked a lot better in the chamber than mine did. Plus, there was a smaller area, so there was more alcohol per cubic centimeter!
