I have a DELL , and HP PC both are running Linux , and Windows... As everyone knows they make VMware Fusion for Windows & Linux, Parallels Desktop for Windows & Linux, or use Virtualbox it's free, and they have it for Mac, Windows, and Linux ... So tell me again why anyone needs a Mac , I mean is final cut the only software Mac has to offer ? This seem a bit pointless to buy a Mac for just one program, and turn around and just use Windows for every thing... Linux plus Windows 4life!!!
im pretty sure i use hp or windows maybe i dunno but umm i wanna get a mac is it hard to switch or dont bother.. cos macs r like really pretty n i want 1 r they hard 2 use?...
@sharnice212, Macs operate differently than PCs, so it will take some getting used to, but Macs are easy to learn - very natural to use. Only downside: they're expensive.
@l15596, VMWare is software that facilitates running other operating systems from inside your Mac operating system. You still need to own another operating system, though. So if you want to run Windows, you need to get a disc to install it.
@cyrax752, It was for a video contest (as explained in the description), and I won an iPod Touch. So sure, it's more of an ad than a testimonial, but I truly was impressed by the product.
Great!! You're going to love it. I've been saving for 3 years for a damn macbook pro 17 inch, since the first macbook pros came out. I still haven't gotten the computer but by the end of this year or beginning of the next year I'll have it :)
IDK... watch the video: "I also develop websites," and as long as a significant portion of the internet population uses Internet Explorer, I need to make sure sites render properly on that, and every other popular browser. Of course I don't use IE for personal use.
because he doesn't want to be going on his laptop in starbucks when some prick hacks his computer and uses firesheep to hack onto his facebook acount then changing the password then charge the guy 300 bones for the new password taking advantage of a poor helpless mentaly chalanged person thats why XD
<derp. He uses it cause he was talking about web development... Its still a highly used browser and any dev would be pants on head retarded not to make their content compatible and available across all browsers. </derp
That's like calling an avid recycler a hypocrite for throwing things away now and then. Just because I enjoy a Mac doesnt mean I dont have to use garbage occasionally.
If one of my favorite programs is Windows-only, and yet I still enjoy the Mac user experience enough to use an Apple computer, what does that say about Microsoft? And why do you care which OS I prefer?
for the multimedia creations, does it do a big difference between mac and PC? cause even if i had 2 or 3 thousand dollars to spend, I think a mac is not worth so much money to have the same applications on PC, and my brother, a informatic engineer doesn't like mac. A mac doesn't seem good to me.
where? from what i remember , not even ebay has macs starting around 500$.
And i know that coz i was interested , i wanted something different , something not Microsoft ... but i ended up buying an Acer Aspire One as a laptop for 300 euros because a macbook or something similar was from 1500$ up.
nonsense, there are currently 96 Mac laptops on eBay priced between $200 and $499... so it sounds like you don't know how to shop.
sorry for your loss, the Acer is crummy since the build quality is low and you won't have access to great software... so looks like you'll have to limp along for a few more years.
I was wonderin sicne I`m getting a Mac (either a 17" or a Pro) for Christmas, I want to run PC games on mac.
I have a Windows Installer Disk for XP but the only problem is that I got a Japanese one and I currently live in Hong Kong so I was wondering if I will still be able to run it (since the OC if different).
2) Will i be able to play PC games if i get VMware Fusion because Im also gettig "Call Of Duty 5" and I was wondeing if I will be able to play it on Mac.
Gaming may not be the best use of VMWare. I'd probably partition your drive and run Windows directly off the hard drive, rather than through a virtual machine. Maybe you could try VMWare first, to see how it goes, but I'm guessing it won't be powerful enough to handle intense gaming.
Hey there. I'm thinking about getting a Mac and running Fusion on it. However, I have heard that running a virtual machine on Mac isn't as fast and stable as it is made out to be, especially using high end programs like the Adobe Suite. Have you noticed decreased stability or performance using Fusion? If so, how bad? And, did you have to run boot camp again before installing Fusion, or do you install Fusion straight from Leopard? Your advice is much appreciated!
You definitely lose some speed with a virtual machine, but it's perfectly usable, and so far it's been very stable. I use Adobe Audition, and I bet I add a few extra seconds to the load and rendering times, but it doesn't hold me back. I take it you already own the Adobe suite for PC and you don't want to purchase it again for Mac? If you plan to use lots of Adobe (PC) programs, you might as well try Fusion, but Boot Camp may be the way to go. But for jumping back and forth, Fusion is great.
I never thought of using IE through VMWare Fusion. Still, if you need music, use garageband, and websites, iWeb. And just do you know, VMWare is a lot slower than Mac OS X or Boot Camp.
Garageband is a cool program, but Adobe Audition is a pro application, which has features I need to use when I audio edit. (And I use Dreamweaver for web design.) I know Windows would run faster off a partition than through a virtualization program, but when you factor in reboot time, it's definitely worth it. So far I've been really impressed by the speed. At least with Audition, the speed difference is negligible.
Web designers need to check how a page loads in different browsers, as not all browsers comply 100 % to the same standards. So he probably needs to check how IE is rendering his web designs as a lot of users will be using IE
As a result of the five-year agreement between Apple and Microsoft in 1997, it was the default browser on Mac OS before it was replaced by Apple owned Safari web browser. Internet Explorer remained available for the Mac OS until January 31, 2006. No major updates had been released since March 27, 2000 aside from bug fixes and updates to take advantage of new features in Mac OS X. The later versions of IE render differently so he still needs a Windows version to check page integrity
I've been thinking about buying a mac, and this fusion thing sounds like it would solve some problems for me cause I use lots of windows files at school.
I'm not "on the fence." Hate Windows and avoid anything that doesn't run on Mac whenever possible. But if I had to run Windows, you've convinced me that the process might not be as dreadful as I think it would be. I'll look into VMware Fusion now!
DONT USE BOOTCAMP AND PARTITION YOUR HARDRIVE. IT FRIED MINE ENTIRELY A YEAR LATER.

Anyone have a leopard disc????
IT COMES WITH THE MAC!!! beside is only £25 for snow leopard, not £110 for any win...
Bootcamp crash after you partition the disk?
I agree that I had some troubles to install win, but one is installed doesn't give problems.
The use of VMware instead of bootcamp anyway, I agree is better.

Virtual Box will run Window in side Linux and it's free. Linux will run on Mac or PC and it's free.
PC's can run Mac OS as Hackentosh , PearPC, and on VMware...
That's right boys and girls Mac OS runs fine on PC's... Non-Apple computers ... or what ever the hell you call them.
I have Mac OS running on my Windows Machine right now ..
