As Bernard Hopkins physicalities have decreased he has had to fight smarter, low blows, holding, his lateral movement is also better as he is fighting more defensively.
I think if Joe fought the Hopkins that RJJ fought Hopkins would have been too young/proud to resort to his dirty tactics, then as he went punch for punch with JC he would have been totally outworked and humiliated.
As the older version he has accepted his limitations and does not take this approach (I h8 watching him mind).
