  • Good video. I'm gonna do what you do each rep. Yup, then let it progressively get worse.. like yup, ah hell yeah! booya! Umm yeah baby! WHAT! Bring it Beeotch!

  • What's difference from romanian deadlift?

  • @multiplecocco Romanian is with lower back.

  • @AlexLococo No. Romanian is for hamstrings.

  • @swiftskilly Thought I used the butt more than the hamstrings.

  • yup yup yup yup

  • His form is fine... He's looking to the side cause there is most likely a mirror there so he can double check his form from the side view ... Anyone who isn't a pussy knows this

  • @patostrophic I agree, I do this too. Although when lifting a lot of weight I doubt I will be looking at anything besides the ground.

  • yup yup yup proper technique yup yup

  • bad form because he's not next to a lat pulldown machine...

  • bad form cuz hes turning his head to the side

  • how does this not hurt your lower back?! do you not recomend this to someone who has lower back problems? also what muscles does this work?

  • @djorourke94 This will hurt your lower back if you do it incorrectly. If done properly, deadlifts are a great way to strengthen the lower back, hamstrings and glutes. These muscles are just as important as abdominals but are very often forgotten in popular core strengthening routines and very often out of balance (like they were for me). However, if your back problems are caused by anything other than muscle imbalances (e.g. disc diseases or herniation) then you should check with a doctor first.

  • @djorourke94

If you have a bad back, don't even think about doing deadlifts. Deadlifts work the entire body. Back, Gluts, Hamstrings, Traps

  • @djorourke94 Mainly hamstrings and lower back, but glutes aswell. Make sure you have powerful forearms if your doing it with anything heavy because they get seriously pumped seriously quick and give out before your the targetted muscle groups often.

  • Wow. Lot of you are harsh. Even if that is the only weight someone can do, why give em a hard time and make fun of em? Kinda pathetic.

  • Why is it so hard to find an instructional video of technique with heavy weights. Anyone can maintain form with baby weights.

  • now maybe if the guy would actually do some lifting he might look like he belongs in a gym. dude is small

  • Why one palm upward and other downward?

  • @Kazzzzzo because that helps you have more control of the bar and not slip, also makes the lift easier, thus you can lift a little more

  • @Kazzzzzo makes it easier n my opinion, its a switch grip

  • "yup" you complete idiot

  • can this be done with a benchpress-pole? or sumhing

  • @MrBluePineApple Straight barbell or Olypmic Bar

  • you must think you are king shit doing 135 lbs! "Yup!"

  • shins arnt bleeding... not a proper deadlift

  • who cares if that man says yup jeez i come on here to see some deadlift and the comments nit pic the one thing they can find..

Some people have little things that mentally help them at the gym, just get swole guys. Bodybuilders should be a community here, we on the same side

  • "Yup."

  • aboctok that is funny

  • Yeah-up.. I'm a wanker.. yeah-up. If you're in the—yeah-up—gym at the same—yeah-up—time as me, you'll get really sick of hearing "yeah-up" on every rep of every set of every exercise I do, each and every day. Plus I have some guy with me who just calls out that I'm doing great, regardless of what I actually do. If I keep good form, it's great.. if I don't, well that's just as great. Yeah-up.

  • @aboctok

LMFAO this made my fucking day...thank you.

  • @aboctok win

  • @aboctok

pure talent , i meant your joke not the lift .

  • Comment removed

  • hhhaha yup ;)

  • LOSER, yup,yup,yup

  • sorry, but you don't turn your head when you do deadlifts!

  • Yup...Yup...Yup...

  • nice, but shouldnt do it slower?

  • YUP....YUP...(I'm strong)....YUP

  • yup

  • yup... yup.. yup.. yup

  • it's not about ease, the bar should be as close as possible to you throughout if you do it properly with good safe form. you can't tell somebody their feet are in the wrong position generally because people use different stances for different muscle emphasis

  • nice shorts

  • seriously..

  • yup

  • why his hands hold the bar differently, is that the right way of doing the excersise?

  • @Begemot81 He's doing an under/over grip, it just makes it easier for you to hold the bar, I prefer to use it, it just a matter of choice.

  • Thank you

  • hes right.. i like to use the overhand grip.. i dont like mixed grips.

  • @Begemot81 He's doing a lefty's mixed grip but that's correct...the only thing wrong is his feet should be just a tad closer together at shoulder width.

  • @Begemot81 Yeah budday!!

  • now thats light weight baby! lol

  • YEEEEEEEAHH BUDDDYYYY! LIGHT WEIGHT!

    aint nothing but a p-nut

  • the bar needs to be on the shins and slide up the thighs. You have space all the way up

  • it doesnt need to, but it makes it easier, i think he's doin that cause its light

  • this is true...but like you said it does make it easier if it is.

  • lol, yup

  • yup

  • If you don't say "yup" at the top of the rep that would be bad technique

  • lol

  • @mvflyhalf lmao

  • @mvflyhalf hahaha

  • @mvflyhalf lol

  • Making a video on deadlift technique with like 20 kg on the bar has no meaning.

  • I knew I was doing it correctly thanks for the video man it's always a pleasure for people to take the time to show people the correct form when working out. this kid told me i wasn't suppose to keep my back flat and you have to.lol anway god bless.

  • lol yup. sounds like ronnie coleman

  • lol yup

  • is this a abdominal exercise?

  • It works every muscle in your body to a certain degree... Your abdominal muscles play a big stabilizing role.

But all in all, the deadlift is primarily a back exercise. The best one at that.

  • back and hamstrings i would say. but you are right about it working nearly every muscle

  • There is nothing great about this. The bar is starting too far away... and why does he look over his shoulder on the second rep... :-S

  • he could've sworn that someone shit their pants behind him

  • great form

  • Ive heard theres a chance of tearing your bicep using a grip like that. I just use overhand grip and lifting straps.

  • You could tear your bicep if it is not used to holding the weight (just like you could tear any muscle if you force it to do something it is not ready to). However, if you build up your strength over time, instead of just maxing out first thing, you decrease your chances of pulling anything.

I personally don't believe in straps, They can hinder you from developing actual strength in your grip/forearms.

  • Yeah i know what you mean i agree, you dont want to have to rely on aids like straps etc

I try to limit the use of straps for the reasons you just said but when i go real heavy and particularly during the last set i usually use them.

  • i agree with duberseb.

it's best to keep weightlifting as pure as possible, without help from straps or other things. if you lift, you're not just training ONE muscle, but there are several assisting and stabilizing muscles that you use for balance and additional grip and power.

If you use straps, you will sabotize the growing process of certain muscles.

  • yup...

  • very sold deadlift, good form.

  • WOW!! That looks to be 135 lbs. Not very much weight for a deadlift

  • bar was about 3"s away from his shins at the starting point...anyone that know how to deadlift knows that is not "proper technique"

  • can some 1 answer this question.

why did he grab the bar like that with his hands facing diffrent ways? does it halp anything? what happens if he would of grabed the bar with both hands going the same way?

  • It's just a mixed grip.

  • It helps you getting a stronger and better grip.

reguler\reverse grips make it much more difficult to hold the bar and keep it stable in heavy weights.

  • You can lift more weight without your grip will be suffering..

  • It's called a mixed grip. It's harder for the bar to slip out of your hands that way.

But you should switch which hand is overhand and underhand from time to time, or your delts will develop unsymmetric.

  • Theres 3 different grips. under, Over and mixed. Over hand is supposedly what youre suppose to be aiming for because it will help increase your grip strength as you go higher in weights.

Mixed should only be used if lets say, your grip starts to fail, so you utilize your bicep to help lighten the load on your forearms. But be careful, this is a little more dangerous since it has known to cause bicep injuries!

Personally i havent had an injury at all using mixed, but if you really are use straps

  • thats a lockgrip u can hold and pull heavyer lifts then

  • It helps to lift heavy weights.

  • by having hands facing different ways it makes it easier to hold when the weights become heavy

  • but will they both get the same benefits or will 1 arm get more than another?

  • if you watch the exercise carefully the arms dont do any work. the legs and back do.

  • not true.. your forearms are getting worked out since youre gripping that heavy weight.

  • This lift is wrong in a few ways:

Your set up is all wrong, your shins must touch the bar which has to be in the middle of your foot. its really far away from you which is why the bar's way up is all wrong too. It has to go up in a straight line.

Don't try to inform people about something you can't do right yourself. hope you have learned something, good day.

  • you didnt touch your legs once with the bar, so i wouldnt call it proper

  • Bending your arms on a deadlift is a great way to tear your bicep tendon, kids.

    <3 Youtube experts.

  • Yo man, the bar shouldnt hit the floor?

  • actually that minimally reduces the static load on the body. The most important part of the lift is the eccentric motion of bringing the bar and load back to starting position under control.

  • Yo why did you rate me down. I wasnt saying that he shouldnt let the bar hit the ground. I was ASKING whether I SHOULD let the bar hit the ground.

  • y is it that ppl grasp the bar with one palm facin inwards and the other outwards???

  • With heavy weight it makes it easier to hold on. Try holding a heavy barbell with both hands in the same position, as opposed to opposite directions.

  • that is the correct grip for traditional dead lift, it helps maintain grip on the barbell

  • he does one reverse grip so he doesn't drop it on his foot

  • does anyone know some exercises i could substitute deadlift with? the gym i go to doesnt have any free weights except dumbbells. it kinda sucks.

  • You can do DL using DB. just lookup "DB Deadlift" and you'll get a lot of video.

  • yah... a dumbbell deadlift, it uses more control muscles but you cant get as much weight. its not the same, go to a real gym maybe, memberships are cheap as hell for what you get if you really work hard

  • a gym isnt a gym without barbells

    find a new gym

  • that's decent form, but not perfect. the bar should be as close to you as possible, even if it means dragging it up your shins.

  • gr8 form

  • to be honest though id rather do low weight knowing i have good form then maxing and throwing out my back. you can still get a workout from lower weight it will just take longer

  • you will tone the muscle more with high reps, but compromise on size gains. if you really want to grow you have to go hard, not comfortable.

  • Well for one the bar should be closer to his chins and he shouldn't be turning his head on the second rep, lol...I know it's a light weight he is lifting but if you making a video about form don't look around...

  • yup!

  • I'm a litle confuse about deadlift and stiff leg deadlift

  • there are different variations of the deadlift to emphasize on the different muscles worked for example if you do stiff leg deads then that'll put more emphasis on your hamstrings and lower back but if you do a sumo deadlift that'll put more emphasis on you legs but if your a beginner just do the conventional deadlift (the one in the video) you don't need to worry about the different variations

    hope that helped

  • Helped me :D thanks.

  • i always lock my shoulders back at the top and hold it for a 2 count, there are 10 million opinions on form for this exercise but the only thing you need to concentrate on is keeping your back straight and your head fixed looking forward.....stop trying to watch your lift your not getting prettier and get it done....anything short of that...sorry about your luck

  • Some people watch their lift to check out their form. I know I check out my form so i don't fuck up my back.

  • the flipping bar always slips out .. i dont know why

  • Yup

  • Why are the arms placed in different places? One comes from the back of the barbell while the other one comes from the front.

  • It's called a mixed grip, one hand underhand the other overhand. If you don't use lifting straps, this is the best grip technique when pulling some heavy weight. Though I don't see why it's really necessary for 135 lbs...

  • If you can't keep perfect form, you're trying to do more weight than you are capable of, and therefore it is not your physical max, just your ego max.

  • I agree. You should ideally go for a weight where you can knock out a minimum of 6-10 rep sets whilst maintaining perfect form, otherwise you are kidding yourself and are liable to do yourself a nice injury. :-) I train these regularly and my form is perfect upto 140kg (310lb). I don't really know what my 1 rep max is because i'm not dumb enough to try it.

  • you mean you're not brave enough to try it.

  • I did actually last week. I did 7 sets of 1 rep and found that my max 1 rep is 155kg which is 2.1 x body weight....

Strangely enough though, I can knock 5 reps out at 150 yet couldn't get 160kg off the floor...

So yeah, I did try it. Thanks for your concern regarding my bravery though. ;-)

  • i was just being an asshole lol, sry :P

  • It really looks like the proper way!

  • I always thought at the end you were supposed to finish with your chest out in an over-exaggerated pronounced position?

  • He doesnt have much of a chest now, does he?

  • This exercise works your lower back, right?

  • yep

  • Lower Back/ Traps/Shoulders/Legs all around mass builder like a Squat..it has many "ancillary" muscle building effects...

  • Great technique btw. Either Hams/Glutes are tight or your psoas major is tight causing rounding at the bottom. But overall good

jhole86 - Yeah keep it close i like to use the technique that it should rub against your shins to start with. The further away from your spine the more pressure it will play on your back in a bad way.

  • while doing this, do you keep the bar as close to your body as possible? and are you mostly using your back to get the weight up? I hear mixed things

  • different body types use different techniques. use whichever makes you stronger and produces results

  • lmao

  • good form, yeah so what if anybody can do it with 135lbs. The point of this vid was to show people how to deadlift not a heavy lift.

Who cares about heavy weights if you cannot perform the lift correctly.

I deadlift 140kg for 3 reps and im 15 years old.

  • Yup

  • yep fucking yep! whatever gets you pumped lol

  • yep!

  • oh your "THAT GUY IN THE GYM" the let me say something after every rep! but good form "yep" hahaha

  • yup

  • hmmm. Yup!
