I think its a good film but Blames bush and never mentions Obama and all his wasteful fiscal activities....its very important that these things are looked at as well. So in my opinion there should be an addendum to this film if they are going to send it out to school kids.
Since the film was out September 2008 and Obama became President January 2009, it may be a little difficult to blame Obama. What is he doing to reduce the federal debt is the question.
oh but I'm sure that something like the internet will come around again and we'll be able to reduce our deficits within a few years. Faith is important to me.
Eliminate the FED, NAFTA and other trade agreements. Put tariffs back, create a wall in the Mexico border.Create more Financial regulations. Eliminate property tax & income tax.If a corporation based in the USA go to China, put taxes and tariffs in the products they want to import from China after all they are not helping the GDP or the US by eliminating jobs and buying raw materials and labor in China. Just like Apple, they design the computer in CA. Then go to China and manufactured them.
If the true figure is 53 trillion, and the Chinese hold 800 billion, then they are in kiddie car in the back seat and and will beep their little horn all they want ,but to no avail.. LOL,when the tax receipts start to flow back to the Treasury the surplus will be staggering.
Why does my generation have to fix it.....You bastards passed it off to us...its not our fault.....everyone over 40+ should be fixing it...we should drain all their accounts and savings and other shit to pay for it...you caused it...YOU FUCKING FIX IT
Not only is taking away benefits for which people had already paid outrageous, it's downright obscene at a time when these people have just seen much of the wealth in their homes and their retirement savings disappear in the crashes of housing & the stock market. Making matters even worse is that fact that Peterson's friends in the financial industry, along with many of the economists who would like to cut Social Security, were the primary culprits in this nightmare.

Forward my challenge to ALL elected officials: Debate me regarding "Is illegal immigration good for America?". HELL NO IT'S NOT! Any politician stating illegal immigration is good for America is Treasonous! Illegal Immigration costs $500 Billion Annualy.
It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.
Manahan is correct. Can't and has never happened in the past that a society has returned to the Gold standard once they have left it. You can't put the genie back in the bottle for a number of reasons. It could theoretically happen in some descendant state to the USA. But the country as it is now with govnt in Washington and state power soon to disappear because of local state bankruptcy NO. Gold's very honest as currency but requires discipline and self reliance that the sheeple have lost.
You cannot go back to gold. I think we should go to bartering of energy around the globe. It's simple my country produces free energy and has it stored during peak times. I.E. Wind, Solar, Hydro electric. Here have ours it is peak during these months. uh oh now are reserves are low send us some, thank you. No fuss no muss. Self sufficient societies. Ramp up technology in a post industrial world. More medical advancements. More computer jobs. Erase debt entirely. Peace and harmony abound. Fin
All I heard was about ordinary people spending but how about those top executives who took billions of dollars, the bail outs, war, and unnecessary spending?
The whole system is based on debt. It's become nothing but IOU's on paper or electronic form. Those IOU's are created from nothing by the monopoly banking system and gov't. We are forced to use it as money and we have NO control over it. Zero. It's just a scam.
Wake up to the con game. Don't just talk about taxes and deficits. Think about what MONEY is, what it really is - and realize that you've been fleeced by con artists who hold you in the utmost contempt as they siphon off your wealth.
So what are people supposed to use as a meduim of exchange? Money backed by gold and silver, I would say. however that would mean you could only increase the supply of money relative to the amount of gold and silver you mined.
No, gold and silver can be commoditized and held in safes of others. Money COULD be a utility, a piece of LAW that is backed by the tendering of it for payment of goods and services, that government uses to promote, preserve, protect, defend, and make this nation THRIVE! That means, that, even though the money would still be FIAT (meaning backed by RULE of LAW, because LAW is NOT NOTHING) it would however be backed by the product of its spending.
I don't understand. Gold is money. You print certificates (dollars) which can be redeemed anytime for a fixed amount of gold. That is how the gold standard works. Backed by laws? Huh?
I know the USD is fiat currency! I'm saying. Gold is money. You just go back to a currancey backed by gold and silver and other metals where the gold is audited.
We havent been on the gold standard in the USA since 1971. Our money was printed based off the gold commodity. Now its called "fiat" currency, its basically backed by nothing and controlled by the treasury dept. We are truly screwed.
It has been fiat for hundreds of years ever since the introduction of bank notes. They were never backed by gold because they all went for the fractional reserve scam. In the long depression financiers monopolized and hoarded gold and crashed the economy. Some protection gold is. We have been screwed ever since we made our money debt instruments. We need a greenback money system. See "seven financial conspiracies that have enslaved the American people" written after the civil war.
This movie will leave Americans with good subject to discuss at a party, water cooler or when conversating with friends. Like all of the other movies, this one will not do anything for the Americans. However the one who will benefit are the director and producer. I see oscars comming for them for best documentary.
neither of these 2 candidates can or will get us out of this problem. Obama wants to add yet another 1.5 trillion of obligations via nationalized healthcare and other giveaways, and mccain hasn't mentioned anything about chipping the debt away. We need to CUT SPENDING, including getting rid of the IRS, make Iraq pay for its reconstruction and pay us back for liberating them (since they have a 80 BILLION surplus) and we need to cut taxes on companies to stimulate job creation.
It's sad that the few candidates who had relevant experience were tossed out in favor of two unqualified noobs. Neither of them has ever held an executive position in government. This means neither of them has ever run a large city or state(Mayor or Governor). I can't tell you how depressing this is. You would not hire an untested person to be CEO of a large corporation yet that is exactly what we are doing in this election.
That is what I was saying from the start once those people got knocked off. I wasn't even able to vote for the person I wanted, it was between a psychotic woman that has no business to be in that position, a guy with no political experience hardly at all, and a war hungry guy.
Is there ANYTHING we can do to get someone else elected? I am half tempted to try to get everyone to elect me so I can turn around and say we are holding elections again, but Hillary, McCain, and Obama cant to run.
one thing you always hear in these discussions is that our gran-children will be heavily burdened as a results of all this debt. Got some bad news for everyone. The problems are happening now!
Mccain is a jackass who doesn't have the first clue about money or economics. The man has 26 million (all donated from blood thirsty corporations) and has already spent 31 million. That means he is currently a "mere"
-6 million. The point being it is his personal Presidential campaign. If the man cannot control his own spending what the hell do you think he will do as President. So he is NOW opposed to a $300 billion bill. Whoop-dee-doo. What about the other 5 trillion he wasted?
I can't believe people actually think a meaningful percentage of people will care about the subject matter of this movie. Either taxes must be raised or spending must be cut (no government freebies, not as big military by which to be a vicarious bully, no promises of free money to get people elected.)
People won't go for it. It will have to be forced on them by circumstances.
I would agree, but as Ron Paul himself said, those write-in votes won't be counted. Vote instead for Bob Barr (or anyone else except the two leading candidates.)
Wake up! Write-ins are generally NOT counted unless on the ballot. Paul told me this IN PERSON at Amit Singh's fundraiser. Also, read his words at the Campaign for Liberty website: "...one must not be naïve and believe that under todays circumstances one has a chance of accomplishing much by a write-in campaign."
Paul worked closely with Barr in Congress and lobbied him to run, per his staffer who I met via the DC Meetup. I live in DC, in case you are wondering.

Why do people think we have too much paper money to go back to the gold standard.
It would be painful but paying back a debt always is.
Destroying some of the stuff every year would make the money left more valuable
Maybe the fed doesnt want that?
