I dont agree with him saying things like "get your practice in while youre young" Not all drummers start out young... and that doesnt mean you should not discount an older guy ... he can end up getting just as good as the younger guys... I hate his age-prejudiced remarks like that

@emilshere Yeah. I hate it when amazing people just blurt out stuff that's true 99% of the time. If he said "if you start older, you'll never play musically," or "older guy, I have PROOF that you'll never be among the other 1%," or "old musicians suck..." THEN I'd be with you on that.

But there are things the brain, the whole nervous system, & body can't do as well later. Sorry. (Complain to Darwin.) And then there's TIME. (Complain to your boss.) And open-mindedness. (Complain Randomly.)

@emilshere I think he meant to emphasize that you should practice when you are beginning, whatever age that may be. Maybe he said "young" because it's shorter and he was in front of a mainly young audience. No matter your age, you can always learn new things (not only drumming of course) if you are open minded and practice the right way.

A fantastic player! Just with everything, there's a level drummers reach where it's not humanly possible to get any better. Speed, technique and ability....and at that point, they all begin to sound the same. Thom Lang is at that point...as well as Dillon Alise, and probably a certain number of other players. They are the elite. I love Neil Pearts playing, but he's not drumming at this guys level. I don't care what you say.

Check out "CRAZY STICKS" he's an older dude that will blow you mind. This guy is a fast drummer but he lacks sensitivity on the heads that give you that funk your looking for. But he is fast as hell. But crazy sticks might have him beat all the way around.

what i like about drummers like him is the range of what he can invoke in his audience. he can start off by drumming out stuff that make ppl jizz in their pants, and then he can go own doing all of these beats with stick tricks and making ppl ROFLMAO :D
