@specialforces69 Not sure what you mean when you say "against" AUS8, but if you mean to compare them, they are both good steels. The 1095 is a tougher steel and better for survival knife use. The AUS8 is a stainless steel and better for general carry use.
Hey Bob have you had a chance to look at the buck hoodlum? if so between this the the buck which do you think is better? I've been thinking about getting the buck.
I have my EDC blade which is the Izula, I want the ESEE 5 for med survival, and I want the junglas because it's damn cool, and I need a big boy when walking through the woods.
Its a serious knife, nice big chunk of metal in your hands. But I couldn't put this in the category of survival knife... Its far too big for what I consider as survival use.
One example, try to clean a small to medium sized fish with it...
I'd class it as a chopper or small machete.
Don't get me wrong, this is definitely on my list of knifes to purchase, but in a survival situation I'd be reaching for my trusty Ontario RAT 7.
Thanks for the review, very thorough and informative.
A little small for a machete, when i think of a machete i think of hacking away at brush and thorns. This i would think that a good machete should be at least 18" long.
I've seen this referred to as a machete in several places, but to me it looks like a HUGE knife! lol It looks nothing like what I've seen in machetes which seem to be just a flat piece of steel with a sharpened edge. Machetes also seem to have flex in the blades by design, where as the Junglas blade doesn't look like it's going anywhere! lol
Awesome knife, and great review/demo! Thanks for the vid!
if anybody is having trouble with carrying this knife, remove the molle back, put on a large teklok-but set for horizontal carry. and put it on your reverse side like a samurai draw , excellent way to carry and its super easy to draw. especially in an emergency situation
i have seen and handled most of the popular choppers. and the junglas is my favorite. the esee 1095 is a fricken miracle steel. rowen manufacturing is godlike.
Thanks for all the "nice" comments. An interesting mob effect I haven't seen before on another video. Clearly the Knives Town community are trendsetters. Apparently we think alike, but that's what they say great minds do. :)
Love that Junglas !! Great knife ! Awesome sheath ! Best coating on the blade!! Can wear it on the belt as well as wear it on the pack or vest !! Can use it for self defense because of the blade length and weight!! Full tang construction so if the handle go you can still use it in survival situation!! Has alot of attachment for personal preferance use!! Etc etc .......
@DaRealRincewind ,ok I understand .I 'actually ' bought a couple at 2sharp.nl in the Netherlands. But you can buy them at a German site too.Or from Bob's knivestown :-) I recommend the blade very much.Normally i dont exceed 7 inch blades. But this one is so well made.Exceptionally well.Very well made knives I always buy several ,just in case.I don't know in which case.I rest my case

@TheSlugger099 The pumble cover looks liek it could be used as a belt loop
MrDyvie 4 months ago
@TheSlugger099 Don't think it's meant to be carried on a belt. I see it as a big knife/small machete I attach to my main kit.
SexiJayyyy 3 months ago
@TheSlugger099 I have this knife, the sheath does have a belt loop between the pommel cover and the MOLLE straps.

22.5 ounces. With sheath 33 ounces. So almost a pound and a half for a baton knife vs what you can bring of the axe variety.

@t5id72j if you like your Ontario RAT 7 get yourself an ESEE-6. They take the Ontario RAT series and blow it out of the water.

I would think you could use the velcro to keep the flap down in the event that you didn't want to use it.
