Ah, the video that led to my discovery of you. I was looking for a video of the best way to beat this stage 'cause I was having trouble with It (No surprise there really). And I came across this video first. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I was too impressed with what you were doing to stop watching. And of course your commentary was too awesome to stop listening to. Later I watched the rest of your videos, and I became a fan.
This stage was... my first introduction of X6. You remember the stigma that all fire bosses in X games were cool right? Well I picked Heatnix first, with unarmored X, thinking this and I was absolutely not prepared for the silly donuts I had to fight over and over and OVER again. After literally 2 hours and at least 20 attempts on the 4th donut (all failed) I gave up and decided that X6 was full of rushed, cheap game design -_-
It figures that I would pick Yammarks stage the next :P
@pandyra55 You're on to something. I've always suspected something when I played X6 and realized just how fucking terrible this game is. I mean, there isn't even a year between the release of X5 and X6 (or it's right at a year), meaning that they basically shit the game out and then didn't even have the decency to try to polish that turd. It was almost as if they just put it in a box, not even with a ribbon, and gave it to the fans and said "This is awesome. Play it." Fuck you too, Capcom.
I really liked MMX6 except this level. But when I think about it I can't explain why. The nightmare effects where you can't see, this stage, Metal Shark's stage, spikes everwhere, going back and forth to get every single armor part or lost reploid. Most of the game is an exercise in tedium.
Yeah, that absurd rising lava area? I did that...with Commander Yammark's bug nightmare active. All those extremely minimal opportunities to shoot those green orb weakpoints? Yeah, I had to do that AND have my charged shots constantly BLOCKED!!! This stage officially killed the game for me.
Sure it's retarded stage design but I still found it really fun for whatever reason. I guess I'm the kind of person that enjoys insane difficulty. Awesome job. I thought it was impossible but you did it.
@Aquarys - It's not "difficult". It's absurdly tedious. Difficulty never should warrant tedium. Especially not at these levels. Maybe if platforms were better placed. Maybe if rising lava wasn't a one-hit kill and you only had 25% of the screen to work with. Maybe if the mini-bosses didn't have ridiculous levels of HP and there weren't FIVE of them. But no. I've seen difficult, and I love difficult. This is bad level design plain and simple.
I probably should have watched this video before saying I want to play the game again. Holy fuck. Maybe this would be decent if they gave the donuts a fourth of their life or so.
............ bisides the lame mini bosses, i still love this game. and this game. and back in the day, this was good gameplay.... other than tekken 2 and 3.
If you enter the lower half of the screen just after Heatnix lowers the lava, he'll bring the lava back up from the bottom of the screen again. You have to start sliding down the wall at just the right moment though.
I honestly almost wanted to play this game before I saw you go through this stage. Frankly, I'm appalled that Capcom would do this to us. Nonetheless, your triumph through this is only a testament of your sheer level of skill and will power. Nicely done.
If you hate calling him Blaze Heatnix, then what do you call him?

@Zanketsune I personally prefer to call him Blaze Pheonix.

omg THIS is what makes me remember x6 as the hardest one. This is the level that made me play it on easy.

Your commentary is awesome.
Man X6 was garbage. What self-hatred I had when I played it on X-Treme with all hostages rescued.
Good vid. The commentary sells it.

@patchtueday He said that it requires deaths. He elaborates on this at 7:40

"It's like they hate the fucking consumer base that gives them business."
And now the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 should leave no doubt in your mind.
Fuck you too, Capcom.

Wow, just look at this "great" level design guys, I love how "fair" this stage is.
It's totally not cheap and stupid no sir! (Why did you rush this out Capcom? Seriously!)

It's amazing how little the awesome stage theme suits these intense doughnut battles. I'm surprised you didn't comment on that, actually.

Hell, I did it with every possible overpowering I could find (besides screen-wide Giga Attacks)
and I died. Dozens and dozens of times.
