Born and raised in Hickory, went to Fred T. Foard high school, same school as Jon. Water Veggie is right, Hickory is very diverse. Viewmont has Starbucks and doctors and lawyers and Vale is open farmland. Just sucks because the mountains take all our snow and all we get is ice!

I lived in Hickory- nice town- but the Viewmont section isn't redneck at all- there are a lot of wealthy retired folk there, riding their Mercedes and BMWs all around like it's the new Studio City, lol.
