@iCourtneyxx Good to hear. As a motorcyclist I totally agree. Many people do it here too ofcourse. How many times I've seen cars swerve, almost hit gutters or other cars, run red lights etc., all because of that stupid cellphone. But the fact of the matter is that not all pedestrians follow the laws as well. Whenever you drive you always got to be on the defense whenever possible. You've got to think 3 steps ahead. I can not count how many times people have run in front of me even when it was my turn to enter the intersection. You've got to wait for all pedestrians unless they tell you to go.
Kids run out into the street all the time. Be aware of this. It doesnt matter if its their fault or yours.

I know, I hit someone a couple weeks ago and I just checked one stupid text that I could have just checked when I made it home. I hit a man who was going to work and injured him and myself. Unfortunately, I am pessimistic that real change is going to happen anytime soon. To this day, we don't charge drunk drivers with 1st degree murder. We can at least test for Blood Alcohol Content. Use of a cell phone is much more difficult to prove in a court of law.
Sadly, I am afraid the only solution is for the automobile companies to build cars that are smarter than their drivers.

I know, I hit someone a couple weeks ago and I just checked one stupid text that I could have just checked when I made it home. I hit a man who was going to work and injured him and myself. You never think it’s going to happen to you. That’s what I thought to…… till I was the one to cause an accident.

Unfortunately, I am pessimistic that real change is going to happen anytime soon. To this day, we don't charge drunk drivers with 1st degree murder. We can at least test for Blood Alcohol Content. Use of a cell phone is much more difficult to prove in a court of law.
Sadly, I am afraid the only solution is for the automobile companies to build cars that are smarter than their drivers.
