@exodus21v20... Unsure by what moral standard you are calling anything stupid or immoral. Care to clarify? I believe you may have called it an "opinion."
Your god is an awful god. He gives a man's former master ownership of wife & kids:
•If you buy a hired servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free. [Exodus 21:1-4]
@exodus21v20 Are your problems so great that you must try to destroy other people's faith because you can't find faith for yourself? Instead of yelling at you, I am going to do something a bit freakish (if that's what you want to call it), I am going to pray for you tonight, tomorrow and every night after that. I want you to know that no matter who is right and who is wrong at least someone tried to reach out and show you Jesus' love.
I believe the most righteous decision every one of you Christians can make is to reject the fictitious Hebrew god that taught mankind that humans can be owned as property:
•If a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken; for he is his property. [Exodus 21:20-21]
@exodus21v20 You are quoting old testament law as fact today when we live in a new testament world. What Exodus lays out are laws for us to follow (if you lived in the days of Moses.) New Testament declares the entire old covenant obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). As a law code, as a source of laws, it is not valid.
Also, Jesus Christ is THIS God. My original statement of praying for you still stands and I am still going to.
The point is NOT that it applies to us today. The point is that god could be so stupid and immoral as to EVER teach anyone that it is ok for people to be property. Your god's opinion on slavery should ALWAYS have been that it is completely unacceptable to take away someone's freedom. Yes, I know slavery was accepted in the ancient times - but god should have corrected humanity and made the practice illegal. But your god was invented by ancient Hebrews so he didn't know better.
@exodus21v20 I still disagree with you. It seems that you are someone who wont change no matter what I say. Im going to tell you this regarding my faith,
"If I'm right then you are wrong
If I'm wrong then I really lived
And if I die with no reward
Then I know I had peace cos I carried the sword"
I am going to continue to pray for you, I hope that you eventually see the light and I hope that you will be able to join me in heaven, because there is a place for you. God Bless.
haha You're funny*... You'd think a Christian would be allowed to say that under a Christian worship song but whatever... lol And as for awesomer being a word... Yeah, no crap. Ask me if I care. No really do... Please, ask me... No, I don't. :]
I remember going to the Supernatural Tour and them doing this song. We ended up just worshipping with hands raised and eyes closed, that we didn't even notice that they were gone, and we were still singing. Amazing.
