Since the book gave very detailed description, many people thought it was real. But it wasn't really a hoax, it was an incident/mistake sort of thing. Last year a popular tabloid newspaper, The Sun, printed a page on April Fools saying that it was the first ever newspaper page that could be tasted haha.
