  • We sang this hymn in my (RC) parish for the first time last summer. Most had never heard it before. This tune (Slane) is a real treasure of the Church.

    Not so fast pal. The melody does not belong to the Church, it is a traditional Irish tune. In Ireland Slane is also sung as a folk song called, "Banks of the Bann".
