to make the gampelay "authentic," Duke Togo should have something akin to bullet time, matrix effects, or dead eye. Can anyone imagine Red Dead Redemption's dead eye meter in a game that is a hybrid of Deus Ex HR and GTA IV? It would be fucking awesome, and marketed properly it would be a hit I know it. I can't understand why Capcom won't partner with Rockstar, as Rockstar has experience with virtual city design.
anyone here play Deus Ex; Human Revolution? A way you could design a game that has a hybrid engine of a GTA city scape, and DX level is this. Make only some buildings accessible and detailed in a given city, have them crawling with guards and security stuff, and make it so that Golgo 13 has to either sneak through, or kill a lot of guys to get to his sniping position. Sneak and snipe, and ocassionally gettaway drive. It could be done.
fucking Rockstar should partner with Capcom or Sony to make a Golgo 13 game.
something that combines the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto, Deus Ex Human Revolution, and Metal Gear Solid 4. Be cool if there were some Assassin's Creed "contract" elements in the game also, with detailed buildings you could infiltrate to set up a sniping position. Done right, a PS3 or 360 Golgo 13 game would be awesome.
The Best scene in the Anime why don´t do another good movie of Golgo 13 THIS IS BEST than DEATH NOTE! Duke is the fuckin best character in anime...well Jotaro and Kenshiro too xD THIS IS A REAL MAN! no words and having sex with all women is GOLGO 13 STYLE BITCHES!
GTA IV owners; to dress Niko Bellic like Golgo 13, go to Perseus, and get the black turtle neck and slate colored pants. Next, get black wingtips. After that, go to the Russian shop and buy sun glasses. You make Niko hold the sniper rifle and the look is complete.
No joke; because of Rockstar's Euphoria engine, the physics in a modern GTA game are "true to life." If you have spent any time at all playing GTA IV, you apreciate Golgo 13 and James Bond more, namely each character's skills, especially when it comes to getaway driving. No joke, Bond and Golgo 13 just have insane driving skills.
When I play Grand Theft Auto IV, I do my best to try to be as skillful as Golgo 13, in my gunplay and driving. Tragically though my skills not only fall short, but I am only roughly 20% of what Golgo 13 is, even though I am only playing video games. If I can't match Golgo 13's skills in a video game, like hell I could do it in real life.
I ran my tape to death just from this scene. I love the music and all. It fits this well. I rewinded my tape so much that the VCR eventually ate the tape. Glad they released this to DVD. I can watch this all day. I had to buy the OST eventually.
Whoah!! The colors!! The animation is superb!! And they didn't sugarcoat the realism here! People falling out of their cars while the car itself fell, the beating the "Laser Turbo" car took when it landed on the other side, the use of light to create an illusion of movement, amazing!
Wonder what car is the "Laser Turbo". Looks like a cross between a Renault 5 Turbo rally car and an Audi Quattro S4 rally car. I read some comments relating it to the Ford Laser (pfft! yeah right) and Honda Accord.
Oh yeah. I almost forgot that the background music used for the chase scene was also used for the part where Duke fights Snake in the elevator. Great background music. Wish we could hear that style more often.
people, just watch the damned anime (Goku); I can't explain it, the anime though was way ahead of its time. I think it came out in the late 80's or early 90's, and it talked about computer concepts that, although sci fi at the time, are "common knowledge" now.
also, damn man that eye of his; what a dangerous weapon.
@prede89 I was talking about Goku; The Midnight Eye. With that one I am not sure if its late 80's or early 90's. From its animation quality I would say late 80's though.
another great classic is "Goku; The Midnight Eye." The character only had two weapons; his left eye, and his staff. Its too bad it never took off, it was a cool idea. I think the detective, the main character, his left eye was some sort of super computer, he didn't need firearms because the supercomputer in his left or right eye, calculated all possible missile weapon trajectories and anticipated for him, where the bullets would fly.
the downward chord progression you hear between 1:36-1:47 is pretty heavy on its own, but you wouldn't have noticed it half as much if it was used, for example, when the detective talks on his CB. Great director, great screenplay, great artists, great composer, and great music editor. Put all those together and THAT's the magic we're talking about here.

Great director, great screenplay, great artists, great composer, and great music editor. Put all those together and THAT's the magic we're talking about here.
my hunch is I think its a ford laser KC its only apparent when you watch the movie when he gets a ride from his lady friend to the ford dealership. where that woman has setup her work shop near there.
I initially thought it was the old school Renault 5 turbo but the rear light clusters dont match up.
dumb question time....I own this on vhs, but I need a dvd copy quite badly...is there a version out there that features the streamline dub from this clip...because I'll pay double for it. If so, where can I find it for purchase?
much as I admire sniper skill, a real modern day assassin would have to have a wide range of skills, ranging from auto mechanics to make deaths seem like accidental car wrecks, to chemistry, as certain poisons can mimick disease, and even fool doctors. Whenever someone gets shot in a public place, the authorities ALWAYS rais a stink about it; cops all over the world take shootings VERY seriously and are often all over shooters like flies on shit.
thats a very valid and interesting point. but watching someone slip a pill in a coffee is never going to be as entertaning as a bullet to the head! thanks for the comment!
comic book a Japanese friend of mine had. Thing about golgo 13 "origin stories" is that to leave his origins a mystery, they always imply it, but never say it.
now, its deliberately left a mystery although it does hint that he is from northern china. Makes sense; few Japanese are 6'2, and the character golgo 13 is 6'2 I think.
there's also a couple of more things; the character Golgo 13 does look Manchurian Chinese for one, and second, in China people of Manchurian ancestry were notorious for being exceedingly cold blooded killers. Golgo 13's ethnic background may have been done deliberately by the creator as being manchurian as their reputation is known throughout east asia.
a pseudo modern samurai for hire; he doesn't work cheap, and he'll only take the job if the client deserves justice, and the target deserves death. I think his going rate is anywhere between 1 and 5 million per head or something.
Well i think someone lied to you, because i've read 13 volumes of the manga and seen 19 episodes and Golgo 13 is amoral. He doesnt determine who deserves it or who doesnt. Golgo once killed a married man who was going to retire because he knew too much about him.
In the movie he isnt amoral, but thats been the only depiction of him as such. And while i love the movie, its not entirely accurate.
Lol You mean the married un-crooked police detective who decided he'd leave Golgo 13 alone if Golgo 13 would just leave Hawaii? The man who did absolutely nothing to Golgo 13 except accidently note that he knew Golgo 13 would be at a gym? He had it coming?
I guess the biography and essays at the end of each US released manga by not only the creator of Golgo 13 but critics who've followed Togo's adventures since the 1960s have got it all wrong.
un crooked my ass; that cop was a racist and a rapist and he had it comming. He did nothing to Golgo 13, but he did harm plenty of other people so the fucker had it comming. The character has a code of honor dude; FUCK YOU. Its the reason he's popular in Japan, Japanese manga readers would never respect a hero who kills people who don't deserve it. You are probably one of those asshole Portman security staffers deliberately antagonizing me with god knows what number of youtube nics.
Actually I read in a book called 500 manga heroes that they were initially worried that Golgo 13 wouldnt be well accepted as a character because of his being amoral, but thats of course not true as the series still goes on.
Also, i dont know what Cop you're talking about, but im talking about the cop in episode 19 (or 18 i think) of the Golgo 13 animated series that just came out in Japan. No one gets raped...
Duke Togo has a code of honor, i agree. But it has nothing to do with "deserves".
Anyway, i think you have your facts mixed up, because i'm talking about the latest subbed episode of the Golgo 13 anime which takes storylines directly from the manga, and there is no rape or anything of the sort involved.
Golgo 13 doesnt deal in deserves or justice. His appeal to Japanese businessmen comes strictly from the fact that he views his kills as business ventures. He isnt a vigilante.
Now i dont doubt he has a code of honor. Its been proven he does. But he does not deal in justice.

I love how he kept the car from flipping when it was on two wheels. The hand drawn artwork makes a lot of the newer computer generated artwork look like crap. Naruto looks so stupid w/ CG artwork AND CG special effects. Golgo 13 on the other didn't need fancy special effects to be great. This is a pretty cool scene in the movie. In fact its one of my favorites. Golgo 13 gets chased around the city by various police cars and manages to outrun them despite using a small mini-cooper. I'll say, he just got lucky.
i really dig this scene. i'm feeling that car.

This is a pretty cool scene in the movie. In fact its one of my favorites. Golgo 13 gets chased around the city by various police cars and manages to outrun them despite using a small mini-cooper. I'll say, he just got lucky.
