This tune has been stuck in my head for 2 years now, I've been whistling it for months on end. Finally found the name and got to see an hear what I saw/heard so much growing up. Gotta Love Youtube!
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the fact that the hallway he walks through had cobwebs around each door(!)...and the extra sounds I'm guessing are the doors squeaking as well as opening and shutting, as if they haven't been used in years!
It was nice that the at least TRIED with this reunion movie. You ever see the 'I Dream Of Jeannie' reunion from the 80s? It's GOD AWFUL. No Larry Hagman, no attempt to make it look like the original series. The 'Get Smart, Again' movie had the same-sounding incidental music and stayed true to the original characters. What I liked most was how they treated it like 25 years had passed, and they were still doing the same things...good stuff!
I always thought the reunion movie was very good, and much better than 'The Nude Bomb.' Very true to the original and got back as much of the core cast - and regulars - as they could.
Nude Bomb was pretty good as remakes go. Max still looked like he did in the 60's, where in this one he's aged a bit.
The best thing about Nude Bomb is that Max is supposed to be based on Bond, but in the show he's more of a parody of John Steed (running around with a more efficient female partner). In Nude Bomb, he's more like Bond, working basically on his own. Andrea Howard is so bland and non-descript, she's more like a Bond Girl (A Max Girl?) than like a true partner.
I think everyone agrees, the Nude Bomb is funny in parts, but wish the idea of trying to replace 99 and giving max a new love interest was a fucking terrible idea.
Somewhere I have this entire movie on videotape. FAR superior to "The Return of Maxwell Smart/The Nude Bomb". You definitely felt the connection to the original series. When I saw that they had replicated the original TV series opening credits, it felt right.
Nude Bomb wasn't that bad, but it works a LOT better if you imagine it as a prequel to the series rather than a sequel. Of course it obviously takes place at a much later point in time than the series, but you know, long-running series sometimes get fuzzy about time periods. Superman landed on earth in the 1930's, but as time goes on, you pretend you don't know that and pretend he was always fighting crime in the 70's. Or the 80's. Or the 90's... Et cetera.
I suppose, but since Nude Bomb was a THEATRICAL release, I was expecting more from it. I must confess, I am looking forward to the new "Get Smart!" movie with Steve Carell. Listening to his interviews, it's obvious he "gets it", but at the same time realizes he CAN'T (and shouldn't) 'do' Don Adams' version of Maxwell Smart. He mentioned that was hardest to do when he has to say those catchphrases, "Sorry about that, Chief!" and "Missed it by THAT much!"
@midknightryder13 , any actor or actress who does a well known role in a remake of a TV series or Movie allways has "Big Shoes" to fill and normally doesn't do as good as the original actor/Actress in that role.
A good attempt at recreating a classic intro, the music is almost the same as the original, but there are two differences, the car u turns instead of pulling up to the door, and in the phone booth he goes up instead of down, this is very funny!
If you watch the black and white pilot episode, it is the same as the color one, but he u turns, instead of pulling around the corner and screeching to a halt, it appears they are recreating the pilot intro, but you gotta love that phone booth send up!

I agree. The Nude Bomb is hampered by the absence of 99. But Don Adams is great, as always.

@ElJefeNLA The Nude Bomb is pretty ordinary, but at least it's better than the one with Steve Carrell as Maxwell Smart.

Re: "The Graphics also don't disappear behind the doors."
Yeah, that kinda disappointed me a little. By 1989, I'm sure it must have been easier to create that effect than it was in the mid 60's.
O'well, at least the same font was used (I'm guessing...or at least close enough).
tsntana 4 years ago
They used the same font, but it is off a little than the original, but it still looks good.

I love the car. I can't remeber if I have seen the movie or not. The begining looks familiar though.

I like the way it takes him longer to come down the stairs compared to the old series.

A little slower getting up the stairs too..compare to the original..but he still makes that wild U turn just like in the pilot!

The phone booth was also updated (it was a "bell phone" instead of a "TELEPHONE"). Man, are there even any of those around anymore? I feel old now.
