WOW! It's nice to know I wasn't the only one! I believe it was the longer-than-usual silent pause BEFORE the meow that scared me! There was once one in the 70's, which showed Mimsie rotate upside-down to the tone of a slide whistle after she meowed. That scared the hell out of me!

I wish I could remember. It wasn't a standard MTM series, though, but rather one of those hour-long variety specials I think on CBS, somewhere around 1976 (I was just 8), that contained the stars and clips of various MTM shows (like Ted Knight, Valerie Harper, Tony Randall, etc). Sounds corny to have been scared by that little twist, but I didn't expect it, and it really made me jump (especially since it was 10:00 at night)!
