I've read that there are 12 episodes in the third season, will it stop after that..forever?

where did you read that from? there are 20 episodes each season so obviously they won't cut the 3rd season short because if they do there won't be enough time for the gAang to and the rest of the main characters and plot to develop and to defeat the firelord for real (not in the invasion episode)

Well, I read it on a side, i can't remember which one, maybe just a fan site and hopefully there are 20 episodes but on the commercial for the 3rd season they said: "10 weeks of brand new avatar episodes"...only 10...

Well I hope you're right , but after seeing episode 309 I came tot hink that maybe aang doesnt need to learn firebending...would be a real shame.

well yea the commercial said 10 "straight weeks" of new avatar episodes which means they will show the first ten then take a 2 month break like in season 2 then show the other ten episodes.
