  • “This is not about sympathy for criminal offenders. Housing

instability is one of the strongest indicators of recidivism in the

criminal justice literature. Criminal offenders who have stable

housing, stable employment and support systems in their lives,

those people are less likely to go on and commit new crimes.”

(Dr. Jill S. Levenson, Lynn University)

  • What will Chapel Hill do next--build a children's hospital and then hang out a "no children allowed" sign? That makes no less sense that what has been done in this situation. You have created a lose-lose situation. A win-win situation would provide transitional offenders the relief and help they need at the same time it was providing one of the major elements statistically proven to help prevent recidivism. Can't this be fixed before it is too late?

  • “[Sex offenders] need to have a place to live, they need to be able

to get jobs. They need to be able to support themselves and their

families. And without those things, they’re going to be more likely

to resume a life of crime. That’s not a debate, that’s a fact.”

  • If the town of Chapel Hill can't grasp its own hypocrisy...then no town in America will. It is time that somebody had the moral fiber to recognize that Registrants are entitled to human dignity....and that those who oppose it are WICKED human beings.
