@samuel9x Not too long..depends on how much time you have to practice? haha. I'd say with the singing and playing together it took like 4-7 days, but honestly I had learnt bits and pieces of the song a long time ago so tat might have helped.

@MetalFee666 This particular song is in standard. They use standard and drop-D, and on the Ghost Reveries album I think they used open-D or something. I don't think they've used 7-strings before.

@LyricsArFun Wow, top 5 favorite albums of all time is almost impossible... if I had to take a stab at it, I'd say Prowler In The Yard by Pig Destroyer, Liquid Swords by GZA, Blackwater Park by Opeth, Blood Inside by Ulver, and either the Cowboy Bebop or Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex soundtracks by Yoko Kanno.

I have to say when I saw you were covering Opeth with a Jackson, my mind was immediately filled with doubt. But what the hell do I know, I only pretend to know the difference. It's amazing how clear and fitting its sound is. Excellent work on the vocals as well, I'm impressed.

@m15t4k3n Well considering Opeth play PRS guitars which are just completely gorgeous looking and sounding instruments I can see how you might have gotten that doubt in your head haha. That being said I'm pretty happy with this Jackson, the maple fretboard adds some treble clarity and it has Seymour Duncan humbuckers (most of my other electrics have EMGs which are great for distorted tones but not so great for clean tones). @Lovemetallica93 I know what you mean, all my other guitars have rosewood or ebony fretboards, maple has a quality all to its own =P if you're not averse to buying guitars online you can find the Jackson DK2M (this particular model) pretty easily I think. Good luck! =)

@babagas Hahah I think I might have...really can't remember though since I did this cover so long ago. Sometimes for those weird chords it's easier to use your thumb to play notes on the low E, Hendrix used those sort of grips all the time.

Hey man fantastic cover of a truly great Opeth song, i was just wondering how did you manage to time your singing and playing so well? Is it all down to trial and error or is there a specific way of being able to sing and play in sync with one another?
