I get this sometimes from a store near me that sells sweets from Al-Naimat.

They also have another dessert that's my favorite, but I don't know what it's called.

It's round, the outside has coconut I think. It's kind of like a cake soaked in honey and there's pink and green inside (possibly food coloring, not sure)

Do you know what it is?

  • is there a way to make this diary-free.. i.e. any substitute for milk?

  • Absolutely. I have made it as per this recipe but without any milk, used just water and it came out great. Just added a teaspoon of extra ghee to make for it - but maybe i didn't really need it...

  • Thank for the Great Receipe!

can you post the carrot Kheer receipe too...

  • Thanks a lot for sharing a really nice recipe chef

  • Many thanks for this great recipe, can I use olive oil instead of the butter

  • Sorry, no. Olive oil doesn't become "schmaltz" (see in Wikipedia what is it, I can't describe it better), while butter - becomes. If you will use olive oil, you will have "liquid" halva.

  • @lodziklocPL Meaning that when olive cools down, it doesn't solidify.

  • @sazji - oh... right. Thanks for greater explain. ;)

  • I just made this and it was AWESOME MAN! You are the best.

  • what is koya?

  • its a milk substance more like grated Parmesan cheese... very high in calories but taste really goooooood..

  • its Ricotta cheese

  • put 1/2 cup cream and 1 cup of milk powder in a frying pan and cook on medium heat. String continuously until mixture comes together and looks like soft dough. thats the way u can make khoya at home

  • thnkz yaar...

  • thnx its very useful

  • too good

  • Carrot halwa and vanilla ice cream... nyum-nyum-nyum!

  • can i use vegetable oil instead of ghee? i m on diet now a dayz.

  • both have same calories so you are are helping your diet

  • @vahchef good one sanjay :)

  • @humairap there are somethings where u you cannot substitue, the mere thought of vegetable oil instead of ghee sounds strange..... you might be better well off without anything, but please no oil... never

  • Brilliant! I'm sooo going to make this today!

  • hi sanjay,
