  • Can u please upload a traditional professional video of rokudan no shirabe, hachidan no shirabe, midare, godan no shirabe and all danmono peice. I also want akikaze no kyouku and chidori no kyouku. Please if u do all peice in pitch of A as I want to.play along with it but the traditional g is to painful for me to play.

    Sorry to bother you.

  • Thousand Thanks!!

I just started practicing this one kept being scolded for making it toooooo slow. Yours version is pretty much similar to my sensei's though she gets really fast from around 3-4dan on

  • Thanks for this. I've loved this piece since I first heard it in my college days back when dinosaurs roamed the earth (;-9), but this was the first opportunity I've had to see anyone actually play the piece.

  • Ha Ha Ha! I mean big as compared to most Japanses people and women playing the koto. :-)

  • I live in Chiba. I just started learning rokudan no shirabe this week. I thought I was the only big American guy in all Japan learning to playing. Some Japanese people even laughed at me when i told them I play. Thanks for this video. It totally encouraged me.

  • I didn't realize I fell in the "big" american catagory. Thank you!... well, if you mean it in the sense of height. :oD

ビックリis the standard reaction for most. Eh, you get used to it though.

  • Mahalo from Hawaiʻi for your talent. Japanese culture here is rather old fashioned so Iʻve enjoyed your playing...very much.

  • Aloha and thank you for watching.

  • sad, i play the western harp...

  • .... the closest I have gotten to a western harp is playing a lyre. Not quite the same though. Why is it sad that you play the harp? (kidding)

  • you started fast, don't you?o_O

by the way let me congratulate you:) you're awesome and you're speaking with an amazing spelling. (Y)

  • Oddly enough, my 先生 prefers to start off a bit faster than I. It is a matter of what branch of which school you learned it from, and once you get it- personal preference.... that is if your 先生 gives you permission! O_o;

    Thank you for listening.

    ciao

  • you sir are Amazing!!

I have to hand it to you, you play better then some Japanese nationals I have heard. When I move back to Tokyo I hope our paths cross =^__^=

  • Thank you Sanjirosan-san.

Look for me out playing here and there (slightly drunk possibly) during the cherry blossoms each year.

    cheers!

  • You are speaking Japanese ! You are acting more Japanese than me ! I'm Japanese but I don''t even speak good Japanese. Your Koto playing is wonderful . I wish I could meet you in person someday.

  • Thank you.

If you happen to come over to Tokyo, we might just meet. It isn't that big of a city! :o)

    cheers!

  • This is a wonderful version of Rokudan. Great playing too!

  • I have to agree with everone on here. It's very good. Do you have an Albulm or anything? You should make one. You're talented. Subbing. :D

  • Thank you. No album yet; am working on my own compositions instead..

  • You are good at playing a koto most in the world.

  • very very nice!

  • i like your interpretation very much!!

    Rokudan is great.

  • Thank you. I had learned a somewhat different version that was nice and like everyone else plays it... but I like this version's slight changes best.

  • great! I prefer your performance than japanese player.

I'm practicing ROKUDAN arranged for syamisen.

Do you live in Japan? I want to see your perfomance more.

  • Thank you. There is more than one way of playing Rokudan with regard to style, such as location of pushes, or hikiiro.. I am glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Yes, I do live in Japan; Tokyo area.

    cheers!

  • Hope you get a recording contract--and make this song known to the US.

  • One step at a time...Taking over Japan is first on my list! ;o)

    Thanks for the encouragement.

  • You play the koto SO beautifully, and your Japanese is very good too! Thanks for posting, 5/5 and fave. :]

  • Sorry for the late reply.

Thank you very much. Pleased that you enjoyed it, and fave-ed it!! :oD

    ciao
