Prefer the Hughie Jones version but its not bad. To be honest though it suits a more raucous tone and tempo.

Certainly something I have learned about folk music is there is nothing sacred, if its a good tune it will turn up all around the world with adapted worlds to suit its new location.
Imitiation is the sincerest form of flattery after all :)
