  • i relly like what u are doing...sharing with us all u learned,,,,thank you!!!it is important to understand all what it is behind emotional eating!!

  • i think life is too short to obsess over things like this

  • @BrownnnEyes it's not like you have an option. It's too late when you realize you have an addiction to food and then you have to work the problem by understanding it.It's just like drug addicts, alcoholics, etc.

  • I don't want to sound rude but.... too many words. There are some good pieces of information in this video but it's hard to make them out because of all the blabbering. You might want to learn to be more laconic, it would only benefit the perception of what you are saying.

  • Excellent video... smart observations....PS I love you!!

  • Wow, your videos are great and insightful.. You should definitely write a book... I'm really into nutrition and the powers of organic food. I'd research and see people say eat as much of this or that as you want, I was excited to see this, I was like perfect I can eat 30 bananas and 5 watermelons. This does not solve the real problem and is no way to live. Great great advice.

  • I find myself laughing cause it's like youre describing me! Ahh I can't get over how happy I am I found your videos, you so need to write a book or something! You're also amazingly beautiful, you don't need to lose any weight :-) x

  • Hey! Have you considered intellectus 424 diet (google it)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate lost lots of weight with it.

  • Im one of those naturally thin people, to me its kind of been a problem since I want to gain weight. I guess my way of life and eating wont allow that :)

I kind of eat when I want to, I may be hungry, but I can wait until I want to eat. When I feel the craving if you know what I mean. Then I start making dinner etc.

Perhaps that pattern plays a part in my physique.

  • For me its like I will eat something healthy like organic and I'm fine if ist little but if i eat too little I need to eat some thing high I'm calories or else I feel sick and unsatisfied. But even if i do eat a lot its never over 2000

  • @ChristinaWolfle oh and im fat

  • @ChristinaWolfle That makes perfect sense...feeling 'satisfied' is such a huge part of being able to stop eating..and the satisfaction is only part physical (i.e. having enough food) a huge and very valid piece of satisfaction is psychological...so if you wanted something heavy and ate a light organic healthy salad..it would be really tough to stop eating!

  • @josielenore yeah I mean if I eat something heavy when I'm already satisfied I don't feel good or if I eat something light when I need calories then I would end up eating more and more. I don't think is psychological because your body tells you what you need. If you don't listen you would get fat..

  • @ChristinaWolfle I don't mean psychological as in 'its all in your head' I mean psychological in that it is not gastrointestinal..but rather that part of satisfaction comes from the ventral hypothalamus in our brain to trigger satisfaction....I think we are saying the same thing...I completely agree that we need to listen to our bodies..and that the brain and the stomach both play a role in feeling full. Ok now I feel like I'm totally belaboring the point :)

  • You're fantastic! Thank you! :)

  • you are a mind reader!!!! amazing videos, SO helpful!

  • @josielenore I've struggled with different eating disorders for 3 years. (I am now 14) I'm not sure if this will work, but I'm willing to give it a try. Right now I'm 118 pounds and 5'4". Oh, and I wanted to know if it would work if I drank diet sodas with it. Because people say it makes you fat, but I love diet sodas! They're better than the regular sodas for me. Thanks for reading this, and thanks for making the video!

  • Great video!!

  • you are like my clone, I AM SO HAPPY YOU POSTED THIS IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT MAKE ME\Y DAY:).

  • Ever since watching your videos I've tryed to stop beating myself up internally. And it's incrediable how much I dd it without realizing! I'd catch mysel off guard sometimes an it's actually really sad... I'm putting myself down and in turn encouraging the emotional eating :( thank you so much for alowing me a realise this, I don't think I would hve ever realized otherwise!! your amazing!!

  • Fantastic! Keep the videos coming

  • i never get full and am skinny size 6 and 8 :)

  • Sorry - by the way: I liked your video a lot. It's a very good idea to get inspiration from naturally skinny people and learn from them!

  • I seem to have a problem here (I guess). I just started Geneen Roth's Book on emotional eating and discovered that I do that a lot, so I decided only to eat when I'm hungry. Yesterday I didn't feel hungry during the entire day, today it's the same. I ate a little something anyway, since I felt dizzy and got a headache.

But normally I have normal hunger feelings! What's going on - does my body want to fast? Strange ...

  • love this vlog! I've spent the last couple of years reading every type of diet book there is and trying them all, starving myself and depriving myself, only to pick up a book on emotional eating years later and find that I stopped listening to my body years ago. I've only recently started to discover what hungry feels like and it's something that should be natural! Anyway, it's nice to see someone who isn't preaching a new diet secret (for the small price of 9.99 blah blah) and helping people!

  • sounds like me....

  • Would you be willing to invite your naturally skinny friend to do a video with you so she can let others know her opinions of eating? You did great, don't get me wrong but I believe it would help your subscribers out a lot. Thanks I love your videos :)

  • I was a little hesitant to watch your videos because I was worried it would be more fat-hate and "simply eat less and exercise more" (like that works). I'm happy to say that I'm pleasantly surprised! The research I've done has led me to conclude that genetics play a huge role in body weight, but I can't deny that I'm a compulsive eater. You've really captured my experience in your videos and I'm so glad to have found them! Thanks for doing what you do.

  • This video is amazing...Thank you for posting it!! You really changed my prospective on food, and dieting. Dieting was taking over my life, this really helped

  • You should so write a book about all this! I'm literally sitting here taking notes and I would absolutely LOVE to get more great info! Especially the way you present it! You're so positive and uplifting, and I've never come across so many insightful ideas that make so much sense! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! =D

  • @FortuneFantastica oh yay I am so glad you are finding this helpful!! And I actually am writing a book - an audio series that should be out next month! It means a ton that you are actually taking notes and finding it helpful. It feels so good to be done with the diet binge beat myself up cycle and to be thin without dieting...I want to share everything I've learned with absolutely anyone who is in that place with eating!! Thanks for taking the time to write it means a lot!!

  • Yay! Sign me up! Where will I be able to get your audio book? I absolutely can't wait!

So you are done-done with bingeing and beating yourself up about food? Really?! I've heard once you are an emotional eater, you're always one. I've had issues with food since I was a child, which became apparent in my early teens when I started to gain weight. Ever since then, it's felt like a salmon's upriver battle. But at least I know I'm going upstream. Maybe this is the final leap of faith...

  • @FortuneFantastica With regard to "once an emotional eater always an emotional eater" that is likely the result of someone seeing it as an 'addiction', I (and much of the leading research) see it as a learned behavior to meet a need (coping, escape from stress etc.) ...so in that case once you learn a more constructive way to meet that need (empowered questions, emotional regulation etc.) then you'll no longer have the need to use food. (continued)

  • @josielenore (part 2) ..when we were young we crawled to get from one place to another, then when we learned to walk, a more constructive skill, we walked, it isn't like "once a crawler always a crawler". Oh my fabulous sweet friend there is SO MUCH HOPE!!!!

  • @josielenore Ok, thanks. That makes so much sense! When I first started exploring my emotional issues with food, the first book I read on the subject was "Anatomy of a Food Addiction" by Anne Katherine. She wrote that food addiction is caused by brain chemistry (as well as emotional coping) and the only way to become free was by abstinence from the foods you binge on. Part of me became resigned to this idea; I figured, well, if cocaine is chemically addicting...then maybe food can be too (cont.)

  • (continued) But I still wanted to believe that emotional eating wasn't determined by your genes, your brain chemistry, blah, blah, blah. I guess subconsciously I still knew that emotional eating could be changed, unlearned. You're proof that I was right all along! I still think that brain chemistry might have a role, and perhaps it develops in the presence of learned coping strategies, but not that it's the whole cause; ultimately I believe what's going on emotionally manifests in physical form.

  • hun, that could be the only meal they are eating.

  • yes, I recently discovered this talking to my (thin) brother, he said he only thinks about food when he realises he's hungry and looked at me like I'm mad because I think about food ALL the time. He also eats really slowly...

I once knew a girl that had half a chocalate buscuit near her computer because she didn't feel like the rest. She might as well have sprouted a second head i was so amazed there were people on this earth that could do that....

  • im naturally skiny and for some reason many of my co-worker think i have a eating problem because sometime i only drink a soda for lunch. its not my fault i only eat when im hungry and i usually wait till i get home to eat.

  • I really like this topic thanks, I enjoyed this video a lot!

  • omg I feel the same way! Something from this crazy obsessed diet world messed up my naturally thin habits b/c I started to think so much about it after. I want to get back to my old ways too. I want to lose 20 pounds and get to wher I use to be

  • I just want to say that you look amazing now...I have seen your most recent video. Congrats on everything. You should have millions of views...people need to hear this. I totally agree and your thoughts have pushed me over the edge about changing my thinking in this area. Thank you so much for what you are doing. I recently observed a very skinny friend eating at a Christmas banquet and she was very picky about the food. If she didn't love it...she refused to eat it. Thanks again!

  • @shyuyin0 :

    You are welcome!

Wow what a powerful realization- and how

exciting for you to go back to your "old" fabulous

ways of relating with food fueled by your amazing

    optimism!

  • Fabulous. Thank you!

  • all she said is true. i'm naturally skinny and i have no idea how many callorys are in anything! it's true.

  • Im really skinny and me and i talked about this with two of my best friends. One of them is my size, really thin and one is kind of big-not fat but she does have some problems with her weight. We talked about our eating behaviours and noticed, that youll actually never see the skinny ones of us finish a plate, not even a piece of bread or pre-cut piece of cheese and we rather have 3bowls of icecream than one huge one-i guess its just that we know exactly what our bodies need-just what the video said.

  • im slender , you shouldnt hang out with your sknny friends your not fat lol

  • im slender and i eat unhealty food sometimes but i barly ever go to fastfood places. and i dont eat alot of bad foods

  • that was awesome.

  • Thank GOD I found U!!! U r soo right keep up da good work!! Im subscribing maybe u can write a book ... combine all ur utube videos as diffeferent chapters I would buy!!

  • i have noticed the same things with my skinny friend, she will buy a sandwich and i will buy a sandwich a pastry a cake and crisps, we will take the food back to hers and i will pile in and eat it all and she will slowly be eating her sandwich and then leave a bit because shes had enough,

  • RIght?!! :)

  • I agree with everything, i have many friends who are naturally thin...we will go out and get some unhealthy food and they will have a few bites and say.. im full i dont want anymore. I dont have that and I could eat and eat regardless if im hungry..if it tastes good i dont listen. I need to learn how to do that

  • I believe our attitude has a huge impact on our weight...

HOWEVER, it isn't a myth that some people are blessed with DNA that is more favorable to weight loss (optimal metabolic rate)

But an interesting fact: the fatter you are, the more you crave foods--and the less able you are to metabolize foods efficiently

the smaller you are (and more muscle) the less you crave foods and the more able you are to efficiently metabolize!

it's an uphill THEN downhill battle--the weight loss stuff :)

  • Skinny people drink diet coke, too.

But I agree in general. It's funny...typically when I'm hanging around fatter people--i strangely begin to gain weight...and when I'm hanging around skinny people--i strangely lose weight.

    Eating food is extremely social!

  • You are so intelligent and fascinating and very very generous to share your time and effort with the rest of us. Thank you very much =o)

  • Wow that is so very kind of you to say!!! It really means a lot!! Thanks serenidyseridy!!

  • wow great insight!!

  • ur awsome, love ur videos and love the way u think!!!!

  • I really love this video because I am about to let go this stress with food.

    It just feels fantastic.

    Much Love .........

  • Hooray!!!!!! I'd love to hear about your experience!!

  • That is sensational! I'm so glad you are feeling fantastic!!!!!

  • you are simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G seriously!!!!!!!

  • I've often thought about this as well!

I've always marvelled at their ability to leave food on their plate! It just seems insane because i think about food all the time, even subconsiously- whereas they seems not to be at all bothered.

I've tried to replicate this sometimes- like i'll make it a rule only to eat 3/4 of a plate of food...But I can never achieve their same attitude!

  • @blacknblututu15 Hello! I'm going to use a smaller plate when I eat for the next couple of months and see if that helps. I believe my brain will act differently and start to realize that...This is it for tonight! No more will enter here lol! Also I believe after a while that my stomach will start to realize this as well! Good luck in all that you do!

  • omg where have you been all my life!?

  • Wow! Great observation Josie...I don't really know that many naturally thin people. My mom is but she likes to feed me. When I go home to visit she'll eat when she's hungry and I eat cause there's free food in the kitchen.
