If absolute knowledge equals perfection and becomes the paradigm, then perfection (absolute knowledge) has no goal because according to N. becoming has no goal. Being (existence) has no goal or end, no aim, no unity, no truth. This achieving nothing after seeking a goal and running a fool's errand is part of what N. calls Form 1 of nihilism, is it not?
@thepatshowonwp If I understand you correctly, I think it's correct to say that positing absolute knowledge as a goal will result in nihilism. Omniscience is an impossible state of affairs for human beings so, yeah. You can't do that. We'll see later just what the point of knowledge is bit later in the lecture series. Peace.
I don't really think I'm trying to limit anyone's perspective or influence (to any great extent) your interpretive abilities. I just wondered if perhaps you could address the conundrum WITHIN THE CONTEXT of what you are attempting to do here. More just an acknowledgment that this problem is out there than a redirection of your entire point or series. I think I'm starting to get what you do. I've followed you up to 14 so far and will continue to do so.
What about the main difficulty of The Will To Power as a philosophical work and that is the corruption of the text as edited by his racist sister after Nietzsche went insane? Is this not correct? Or have there been new editions that cut out material that was corrupted by the sister?
@andyvinstra again totally fair...I try to...seperate the biography (as best as I can) from the text itself. I look at N. text and every philosopher that I've read and recognize the amazing analytic abilities that I developed over the years. For me its ALL [emphasis] about tracking the consistency of the thought. This is a logic lecture without the math. I feel studying this stuff makes one smarter, more perceptive to minute detail, which translates to the real world. So I stay away from the
@andyvinstra talking points and try to DEMONSTRATE [emphasis] my interpretation of the logic. All philosophy is is analytic ability honed to a science. So all of this may seem meaningless at best or an act of complicity at worse, but it is really a DEMONSTRATION, a very very lengthy demonstration of the PROCESS. The idea to to show rather than tell. To DO rather than to ask that you do. To access Me rather than I access you. This is the next era of education, but there's no manual
Are you going to talk at all about the literary quality of Nietzche as a philosopher and the problems in establishing his epistemology from the poetic and metaphoric quality of his text or do you not see this traditional conundrum established by many Nietzsche scholars as accurate?
@andyvinstra it's not that I don't see it as accurate, but I do see it as an attempt to influence my interpretative abilities, and not just my abilities but alternative perspective from anyone. I am liberated insofar as I do not have to answer to the tradition philosophical canon. I am a product of that canonical training, but I am in no sense obligated to puppet the canon [not that I think ur saying that] in the end, its just another interpretation. The difference is I am willing to put it
@andyvinstra all out there to be critiqued and criticized. These videos aren't about me or my perception of accuracy, these videos are a demonstration of the process of philosophizing, as I said in my what is philosophy video. I'm not going to tell you how to do it, I'm going to do it my self so that you can modify the style to your liking. N. would shriek at a canonical, systematized interpretation of his work. Me, I'm just throwing ideas into the world w/o considering the establishment
@SkidRowRadio I do, but I think it would deter people from watching a hour and a half lecture. I decided to chop it up so people could progress slowly through the series [at their pace] rather than being committed to a long lecture. I think I stand a greater chance of people watching if I chop t up...
