@mickeymusicstar I know what u mean.. since this track was played mostly by House DJs and mixed with Underground house of that time, it was always pitched down.. and I also like it better a bit slower, so then u have time to do your moves while you're dancin! But I know that some people just can't understand that, because they prefer when the beat is fast and they can do their 'techno moves'.. only they don't know they look so stupid! Lol ! d : )
Yogi is an Edinburgh legend! I first discovered his delights in the backroom of the Honeycombe in 1995 (an amazing venue in those days) in amazing nights when Edinburgh was really kicking off. Keep it going Yogi.
"There's something about the music.."... I could never figure out what the rest said.
Also is that Colonel Abrams singing "just keep moving, just keep grooving".
One more comment, why did this song sound so much like Mellow Mellow's I Can't Stop.
Anyhow, in 1993, this was the best song ever played in the LA Club Scene! It sounded so different when played over dance club speakers. The speakers in our cars and computers can never compare.
" There's something about the music that's come over me, and when you listen, you can use it " is what she says iirc.
The 'just keep' sample is Cuba Gooding.
And I suspect Mellow Mellow sounds like this because the UK version of Tribal Tone was released a year earlier in 1992, and they 'paid tribute' to it...
house samples a plenty with the organ vibe and tribal sounds original to the core. alougth i wasn't sure the entrance of the mad drums the groove still sticks.
@kevzero11 - The label it was originally released on was from Falkirk. The 'Ruffneck' mix was written in my bedroom in Motherwell during '89, then tarted up in a small studio outside sunny Stirling in '92. Which is also where Yogi & I wrote the 'Mo Better Grooves' mix, which has more of his influence than mine.
I played the crap out of this record for about ten years and still love it. Also love the more tribal techno version on the flip both cuts can definitely work.
That Yogi dude has got one gnarly grill. I heard a story that he made crowns for his teeth out of those golden bits that hold the rubber on the top of pencils and fixed them in place with a staple gun. Also that when he was at the Miami Music Conference one year he passed out after eating too much and some dude was charging folks five bucks to let their kids jump around on his belly like one o' them bouncy castles at Disneyworld.
that yogi dude might have a gnarly grill but he has a big fat cock...he teeth arent made out of the gold bits from pencils, they are made from ya mothers wedding ring as she gave it to him as payment for giving him a good seein too as your fathers impotent...your clearly jealous as ya have never made it as a dj...trumpet!!
Thanks for all the great comments on this track that Alan and I recorded. We are doin' a remix of it for a new label here in the UK very soon so I'll keep you posted. Yogi Da Bear Productions
It's featured on a classic On-E and Dmitry (both from Deee-lite) DJ mixtape circa 1993/4(?) Always wondered what the track ID was. Thanks for posting.
The tom drum sample was taken from Plez - Cant Stop. The original release was a year earlier on Hubba Hubba records in the UK, who licensed it to Vibe and others (and someone still has our cut of the fee...)
It's me being ignorant. Statenhal - you are most likely correct in what you. It's just that I haven't come across a record in this style that is played this quick, but then i'm 26! Really like your channel. There's a Mike Perras sample or vice versa and I can't figure out the latin sample - it's appeared on another record.
Hey JackJones I was not offended, actually Andy was from Motherwell Bellshill or one of those crazy towns. Thanks for liking the tune, got a new label called Shrine with some new material I have done, it's gonna be on my space real soon. What was the gift? You got me wonderin'. yeah club 9 was dope man.
By the way, I'm not from Falkirk, I'm from Manchester (a northern soul lad through and through) but moved to Edinburgh, Scotland 25 years ago. Close enough though jackjones
thanks for stepping by Yogi. Kudos for your tune :) And nice to hear you dont mind to find you tune here on YT. Some producers aren't that happy. (some guy called gerald ;)
@yogihaughton This tune really rocked my world back when i was 15 and growing up in the New England (US) scene. Much respect mate, you helped shape my imho impeccable musical tastes. Best wishes from me to you n yours, forever. Peace n jubliness,
Oh....Thanks for posting my tune, jus' to let you guys know I will be at MIami 2008 as I am strating a new label called Shrine Sounds. Got lotsa good soulful house comin' yo' way. NIce to be on youtube at last hee hee. peace Yogi.
