  • The best acceptance speech ever! Love that uber-talented woman!

  • A great entertainer but she may be the most hated woman in the theater. She is a complete bitch to deal with. I don't know a single person in the theater who can stand working with her!

  • She is so fucking Coool. She is awesome ,and I love this old gal.

  • "I'm not movin' from here until someone comes and gets me."

The most honest award-show speech ever given.

  • Elizabeth died yesterday, but I'll tell you, the day that Elaine Stritch dies, Broadway lights will be out. And I mean OUT.

The woman is a legend. And absolutely hilarious.

She's one of the few who TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

  • she's fantastic!!

  • thank God for her - what a speech!!!!!

  • just heard her interviewed in Detroit...WDET!! Welcome home and thanks!!!

  • she was from detroit

  • When you see Elaine live, you will know why she's iconic. I saw her in back to back performances in Los Angeles several years ago during her tour. Awe inspiring.

  • god! i love elaine! she has been around the entertainment industry for years and i saw her live in New York and she is hilarious and well deserved that emmy!!! Keep up the hard work Elaine! we love you here all the way from NEw Zealand!!!

  • She is a brilliant actress, but this clip makes me glad I don't have to work with her.

  • shes my grandmom's best friend.

a truly funny woman, i havent seen her in a few yrs though.

  • elaine stritch has , if i remember it correctly four other nominations before the one woman show. not a lot of people have that kind of honor.the most important thing is she was involved in many different shows and many of those shows have won a lot of awards. hal prince actually thanked her during his acceptance speech and so did sondheim . sometimes, one does not need to be winning to be an icon.look at julie andrews, she is not a tony winner it doeen't mean she is not a theatre legend!

  • she created some of the most memorable roles on broadway

    like joanne in company

she is one of the greatest character actors on stage and screen....and totally honest, which is why everyone loves her

  • Do you think she was excited?!

She's on two original cast albums of Sail Away by Noel Coward. Great songs!

  • ONE VERY HEARTFELT THANK YOU!!!!

  • hillarious lady

  • I'm a Brit & don't undersdtand the UK v USA bashing. Elaine Stritch is a diamond. Still much loved over here, she totally suits both ends of the pond. Love being a Brit but I also love the yanks.

  • LOL! here's to the lady! brilliant :-)

  • People were too hard on the hillwill's comment. He simply didn't know who she was, and people got all defensive, picking on his nationality. He didn't say she sucked or anything!

    Go Elaine! Luv ya!

    from an American!

  • That's the most genuine acceptance speech I've ever heard. Over 80, doesn't give a crap and says what she wants. That's Elaine Stritch. Awesome.

Best lines: "Scott Sauders, I don't like him very much" and "Now, I'm not moving from here until somebody comes and gets me".

    LOL!

  • she kicks ass. best speech ever. "i won!!" hell yeah, ya did!

  • What a talent........Awesome!!!!!02:20, "I don't like him very much"......Lolololololololol...She is just magnificent!!

  • she's so awesome!!!!! hilarious!! uncensored! love this woman

  • i love this woman!!

  • And of course the British Academy Awards and The Ivor Novello Awards and the Brit Music Awards are just a nice evening out...how bloody hypocritical.

  • Some of you Brits find any stupid, idiotic reason to criticize Americans for no damn reason like you all are so much better. Knock it off. For people who seem to know it all, you sir, sound dumb ass hell.

  • once in awhile we even hand one over to Julie Andrews!

  • ...and Julie snubbed the folks at the Tony nom. com. fr Victor/Victoria.Seems as though the Brits are quite busy doing 'sensible things' like banning Martha Stewart entry while UK not only welcomes, but 'protects' Muslim terrorists, the poor little dears. Excellent choice,..you silly puddings.

  • Yeah and there are plenty of old hags and bags in England that Americans don't know or could care less about that the Brits seem fit to give awards too as well. This woman has been in show business for over 60 years. Show some respect. Just because you're ignorant and don't know who she is doesn't mean she's irrelevant. I hope your fellow country men and woman aren't as narrow-minded and pompous as you.

  • Haha OMG, she's crazy!! That's hilarious!

  • she reminds me of a teacher i had

  • She's such a bitch you can't help but love her! I LOVE STRITCH YOU ROCK MY SOCKS!!!!

  • YES!!! God, she's just awesome. I LOVE it when old ladies are feisty and use curse words.

  • this is magical

  • she is adorable! i love her feistiness

  • If they had an Emmy category for best televised acceptance speech... Elaine Stritch would totally have another Emmy on her mantle.

  • I love it when the older they get, the feistier!

  • I still remember the story she told about when Ethel Merman told her to sing The F-ing song in New Haven!! HAHA she is wonderfull..

  • Nope, it's just Elaine being Elaine. I love it.

  • I love her....She is just so...wonderful.

  • This is the best acceptance speech I have ever heard in my whole life. Incredibly adorable.

  • She's a hoot. Over 80 and doesn't give crap and says what she wants.

    LOL...that's what I'm talking about.

  • Now, that's what I call a real acceptance speech.

  • hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! "I'm so glad you didn't win!!" She's the only person alive, other than maybe Peter O'Toole, who could get away with that....

  • at 30 seconds, she says, "somebody help me up the stage" ha ha ha :)

  • soooooo funny...

  • She is the best! Liked her at the 2007 emmys too!

  • Do you have that video? I can't find it on youtube. It was so funny when I saw it at the emmy's.

  • She's hilarious! Why can't everybody be that excited when they win?!

  • Love you Elaine.....such a wonderful talent...and personality!!!!!

  • OMG this lady has 10 times the energy and comedic instincts of women a third her age! What a delight!

  • She's a class act.

  • haha shes hilarious!

ive met her a few times.. because she is one of my grandmoms bestfriends. shes prob the funniest person ever. had dinner with her about 2 years ago!

  • She's adorable.

  • By mistake I was honked her left boob in front of the Playmouth Theatre. You'll never know...

  • she is so much fun. i love her.

  • SHE'S AS GOOD AS THEY COME.

  • Simply the best.....

  • LOL " i'm not movin from here'll somebody comes and gets me, u'll just never f'n know " i like this elaine

  • I love that woman. I was in NYC in 2004 and the man at the workshop mentioned her name and I was the only one that laughed. So the rest of the workshop (i was 17 on a class trip) the guy called me E. Stritch. What a wonderful woman to be knicknamed after.

  • ELLLLLLEEEEEEN at 2:47!!!!! :)))

  • i love this woman

  • I agree with proflombardo - that acceptance speech was worth an award all on its own. LOVED IT!

  • Saw the show twice in London - I had to go back because I just didnt believe my eyes the first time - what a talent!

  • Haahaha! Take that you untalented wannabe-bitches. Elaine told them straight up. xD

  • Oh God, I love Elaine

  • What a great way to accept the award. She did what everyone really wants to do.

  • She should have won an Emmy for that acceptance speech.

  • Fabulous Stritchie. My friend Ian did her hair when she was doing her show in london back in 2002. She gave us free tickets 3 times and is truly one of a kind!

  • God, I worship that woman...

  • Whoa.... haha.

I love the look on Sarah Jessica Parker's face. So uncomfortable. hehe
