You missed the FDS version called "Kaettekita Mario Bros", which was improved further from the original Famicom/NES version. It's nearly arcade perfect.
@FirehawkeR Kaettekita Mario Bros is really good but it isn't arcade perfect, its a another version with ability to turn around while jumping which makes it a really different experience, the best port I think is on the Commodore 64 (Atarisoft version), great graphics, sound and smooth framerate, two downsides trough is the "bumping" animation when you jump under a platform is gone and the freezer doesn't freeze platforms.
@123stephenno There wasn't an official Colecovision version of Mario Bros.. Someone hacked together a version a year or so ago for the system, though.
@Umma6umma hey well i might have to get u a cheap copy let me see i might hook u up soon so do u want it? im asking do u want5 a copy? i MIGHT be able to get it just let me see i know the guy who did it
Generally, the 7800 ports are pretty good, and are the best to be had for the era if you rule out the Famicom ports.
The problem with the 7800 is the appalling audio the machine generated; it was actually saddled with the same sound hardware as the 2600 by Jack Tramiel, in order ot save costs.
Great idea! The NES version is the closest port to the arcade version (GBA version the same with squashed screen). I see that both it and the 7800 version simplified the colors in the game (with the 7800 having the inferior resolution)... the turtles were modified to look less like the koopa troopas in the NES Super Mario Bros, Luigi's shirt was changed, the color changes from deaths (burnt to a crisp, frozen) and the variations in later stages (like the falling icicles) were removed.
The "arcade versions" from the start of these videos, with the boarders around them...
What are those from?

Game & Watch version?
But NES had weird crabs, 2600 had bad graphics, and 5200 just annoyed the hell outta me.
TheFunkyBones 2 years ago
@TheFunkyBones if you get Mario Bros. NES on Wii the crabs wont look weird.

How come you didn't include the Mario Bros game found on all 4 Super Mario Advance games on the Gameboy Advance?

I stick with consoles on this series. Digging up emulators for handhelds is a kettle of fish I'm not ready to fry right now.

Missing the other NES version, Mario Bros Classic, released in Europe and Japan. It was a pretty perfect port of the arcade game.

Why does the atari have such bad graphics compared to the original arcade game?
edsucksfredrocks 2 years ago
The Atari 2600 is a video game console from 1977. It obviously couldn't have the same quality as dedicated hardware from 1983.

Yeah, to simplify things a bit I generally date things by the NA release.
