Car was designed by the late Satoru Nozaki. The last quote I had of late is somewhere north of 450,000 in terms of value. (Granted this is a pristine museum quality piece.)
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
What a bunch of crap! Search a little bit before writing all that nonsense! Toyota made about 300 2000GT's. They sold 60 in the US and they were also sold in Europe. A Portuguese guy sold one last year in an auction for about 150000$. And that rumour about the car being an Albrecht Goertz design for Nissan is false. The car was designed by Jiro Kawano, Toyota's racing director. Yamaha only took part in the engine design as it does in all Toyota's sport car engines. Yamaha is a Toyota subsidiary
You know whats interesting about that is that even after Toyota killed off the 2000GT, some parts from the top end lived on in the Yamaha XS650. I think the valves, valve keepers and springs actually have Toyota part numbers!
I saw my first Toyota 2000GT in 1967. It was parked at a restaurant in L.A. I was 16 years old, and I never forgot the thrill of that car, to this day. Beyond Classic.
damn i love that machine, one of toyotas sexiest models. only 13 were sold here in the states, and they can go for well over 100,000$ if you were some how lucky enough to be able to buy one.
yup, the gts were way too expensive to market to mass consumers. nissan was looking for a car that would perform well and be withen mass consumers budget... and then there was the 240z =].
i heard that it was a european guy who designed the car for nissan. but nissan decided it was too complex to built. eventually toyota took on the project
Greatest 70's??The 2000GT appeared as early as 1966 and even appeared in the James Bond movie You only live twice in 1967.Too bad they were only sold in Japan.A classic indeed.150hp from 2,0litres is pretty good for the 60's.
Wow the first true japanese sports car..father of all twin cam toyotas..too bad they didn't make too many...do you have any more 2000gt videos??and thank you for posting this one beautiful

Damn I love to see some do a resto mod with one of those.
Take one thats in need of restoration, Put a 2JZ engine it in with all the modren goods like how they do with them old Corvettes.
That would be awesome.

Well actually they made about 350, but they only sold 60 (?!) in the USA. And it was built almost entirely by Yamaha.
