@allmusicallthetime63 I have it, it's called the A Postcard to Henry Purcell, yet it belongs to Henry Purcell's Abdelazer o The Moor's Revenge which is in fact a suite. The rondeau (that is whay you may listen while they are dancing) is what they are playing, they just changed a few notes.
As well as watching Lizzie and Darcy in this scene, I love watching Jane and Bingley dance in the background. It's so cute seeing Bingley stare in adoration at Jane and Jane being shy and smiley! It's a perfect contrast to Lizzie and Darcy, who are at each other's throats the whole time! :D I love this film, and the book! <3
Great actors, but I think anyone who's read the book will find this film is far too modern and corny. The films good in itself, but it cant be compared to the book. I mean did anyone else find it terrible when Lizzy talks about how Mr Collins will inherit the estate rather than down to "poor females"? The real miss Bennet was clever and sparky to men, but she still lived in the era, and knew and accepted her role would be to take care of the household and have children
Qu'est-ce qu'ils sont bavards ! Et comme ils s'arrangent pour que leur conversation, d'ordre assez intime, soit entendue par tous les autres danseurs !... Quite ridiculous !...
Hated this adaptation. I've never liked KN, but here it is MM who is my real problem. He looks ridiculous in period costume, he should have lost at least 10 pounds and his hair Louisa! The dialogue, so trite with very little Austen in it, their delivery is rushed, forced & rehearsed. I met the screenwriter of this movie, she wouldn't admit that she deviated from the novel & I hated her take on the clothes and the houses. All Regency clothes were handmade not just the Bennets, who seem too poor.
what a great actor is mm, after playing mr darcy he could go to hollywood and play in shitty moovies with jennifer aniston or cameron diaz and make good money, but he prefer to become ugly beared and unagreable like the sheriff of nothinham
if you read the book darcy says that he doesnt make friends easily, this is why they made this darcy shy, not just unagreable, i also liked this movie cause people looks very natural, you dont expect them to look like a portrait of those times, remember that they use their best outfit to be painted, and it shows the people how they looks at home, with handcrafted dresses.
@cristinawilligs I agree with you, in this movie people looks natural and not "dummy fashion" as you may see in many films, I don't think that people used to wear awesome gowns and hairstyle at home.
if you read the book darcy says that he doesnt make friends easily, this is why they made this darcy shy, not just unagreable, i also liked this movie cause people looks very natural, you dont expect them to look like a portrait of those times, remember that they use their best outfit to be painted, and it shows the people how they looks at home, with handcrafted dresses. maybe is not so loyal to the book because of the lenght of 2 hour but it is fresh and natural.
The only fault I find with this Darcy is that he isn't... commanding enough? He is quite cute, although I like Colin Firth better. Firth's just got that.. arrogant air about him, while I feel Macfadyen is just... a bit too... shy for my tastes.
@34RiverStone You can see that one of the other background dancers was not wearing gloves either.
Personally, I think the director did this on purpose for Elizabeth, I think he intends on making her a kind of rule breaker of society. You can see that in most of the movie all of her sisters wear bonnets, and the only time she wears a bonnet is the time Mr. Darcy first proposed to her.
Since I saw Matthew in Little Dorrit, I learnt to appreciate him beter for being Darcy now. Even though I love this version, I do prefer the 1995 BBC one ;)

Seriously people????
This was painful to watch. It is missing the wonderful subtleties that make this story fantastic. The music doesn't seem to go with the dance and it sounds dredful.
The characters lack passion, which surprises me because Keira Knightly is usually good at displaying passion.
ohhhh i love Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy. he's so talented and he is very good looking c: bad nose, but. yeah. he's still stunning and definitely a marvellous actor. and this song is great. i just love this scene.
@Sandibell05 I agree with you. At first I didnt think so but by the meadow scene when he preposes a 2nd time, I had said, "How the hell can a man look so sexy just wlking thru a meadow!?"

This Mr Darcy is so ugly compared to the Mr Darcy of 1995 (Colin Firth). Why was this film made at all? Nothing compared to the TV series from 1995!!!
They're not pearls. In the scene prior to the ball, you see her toying with a white feather; she obviously tore off bits of it and arranged them in her hair.
I treated my man like shit in the beginning too. I guess, guys still fall for it today. LOL. But those two do belong to each other. Good job actors, well done.
i love this movie so much. i cant stop thinking about it. and i must say the end, when they dancing alone is so sweet:) they feel as if they are the only two people in the room:)
