  • White people can jump. Enough said

  • @Chukojc94

well they can like sebastian bayer who jumped 8,71 but the best of the world are all black

  • Its a fake : )

  • HE IS ARMENIAN.

  • Nice technic.. Greet from poland

  • His technique is beautiful

  • i've never seen hangtime like this before

  • That hang was ridiculous!

  • that was totally beautiful , and hes made of rubber lol

  • white man can jump :D !!?

  • Ive never seen a hang technique go so far, wow

  • ARMENIA

  • A monumental and almost-forgotten jump. Dope assisted, no doubt but nevertheless, probably the best single example of hang technique of all time. Emmiyan remains completely symmetrical, with no yaw or body rotation, and he gains maximal height. With hang, jumping for height is critical. Distance follows height. Not the same for hitch jumping (Lewis). Why does Bob Beamon randomly appear at the end of the vid?

@gavedog, yes, LJ is the most technically demanding event of all.

  • @KingLiopleurodon I assume that Beamon is shown at the end because in 1987 when Emmiyan jumped this 8.86m it was the closest anyone got to Beamon's record. Lewis' PR was 8.79m at the time. Nice breakdown of technique btw. I think the hang is the superior long jump technique

  • @bossofalltime Its my favorite style as well

  • Thats very good jump, perfect!!!

  • ivan pedroso..look him up..not tall at all, he can jump out the pit

  • @icantfeelmyface1268 And not fast either.

  • @octopusmagnificens

"not fast" is relative. Pedroso has plenty of speed. He's deceptively fast.

  • a half or chopped stride before take off is essential to prevent loss of energy as you take off, others you'd slow down to accommodate last open stride and then power off

  • People are ridiculous to think that height matters in long jump lol..it's based off speed and explosive power and how you convert that sprint speed to your take off phase

  • so height is needed

  • by height, i mean the height of the person. of course height is needed but just because one is taller, doesn't mean he gets more height. i'm not saying that you said that, but i just thought i'd point it out. Height has no affect on how high one's legs are from the ground.

  • fair enough, then you're completely right.

  • you must not jump or must not be a good jumper if you think how high you get off of the ground does not matter. Go to an actual world class competition and you will see those guys jump really high on long jump. The only thing is they can reach that height while running at full speed and virtually no slow down before the board.

  • Omg you people are so stupid i swear lol, height does not matter in long jump. like i said before, by height i mean how tall the person is. Body height has nothing to do with long jump. Now height (the one in which how high your feet are from the ground) that does matter. and just to point something out, i am a 26 foot jumper, and i'm 18 years of age. it can easily be proven.

Jesus Christ, read carefully before you comment. i'm pretty sure i made myself clear in the last posts

  • Actually, technically Height, yes how tall someone is, IS benificial in Long Jump, unfortunately there arnt any 7 foot guys that can run 10.2 seconds in a 100... The Higher your COG is at takeoff the better. that goes for high jump to.

  • Being small has benefits (less weight), just like being tall has benefits (higher centre of gravity) for the long jump. You can't just say being tall is an advantage, as you don't know how the benefits of being tall and those of being small, compare.

  • I didn't say being small didn't have benefits.... don't argue for the sake of arguing please read my comment before replying next time bud...

  • has anyone gone to the trouble of actually measuring out the distance and wondering in awe, how the fuck someone can jump such a distance?? these are real athlete's and not the vain, publicity seeking, footballer's, rugby player's etc

  • how the hell! 5 foot 10 and not the fastest ever=one of the biggest jumps in history?!

  • he was very powerful though, and had great control on take-off

  • height ha nuthin to do with long jump

    FUCK!!!

  • yes it does, but only when combined with momentum and speed; height delays landing resulting in a further jump. Height has everything to do with long jump. If you dont believe me watch Ivan Pedroso 8.70m

  • no the helll it doesnt because a guy 5'6 can get as much height off the ground as a 6'7 guy does (and im talkin vertical not how high ur hands are for all you retards out there) soo idk how height delays the landing if anything it would quicken the landing because legs are longer height has nothing to do with long jump. i would understand if we were talkin about high but were not

  • Actually a smaller person can get more vertical then a tall person, because his body mass is lower. An advantage of being tall, is a bigger difference between the CoM height at take-off and CoM height at landing (which means a longer flight time).

  • and ive seeen the ivan pedroso jump about a million times again height hasss NO thing to do with long jump

  • if you say so.

  • hahah i know soo

    and YOU know im right

    :D

  • mate i said it in a srcastic way lol

  • you could say in a sarcastic way all you want to mate cause u know im right im mean do u really believe height would help you in LONG jump

  • yeah very clever putting long in capitals but it doesnt emphasise anything other than lack of basic physics, because basic physics tells us that more height = more distance when combined with speed to prolong the landing. That is why you will see world-class long jumpers 'stuttering' a few strides before the board and leaning back slightly in order to gain extra height. And I said it in a sarcastic way becuase there is no point arguing with you, 99% of people on here will agree with me anyway.

  • so im pretty sure that you saying height i hope you mean height off the ground and not of the jumper because if you mean height off the ground then were on the same page because getting back to my first comment a 5'6 jumper can get the same height off the ground as a 6'7 jumper height makes NO dfference in vertical leap or speed

  • yes i agree with that and i did mean height off the ground, not height of the jumper because obviously height ofthe jumper does not determine how high they can jump as we all know- that is about leg strength and general explosive power

  • Comment removed

  • Stuttering before the jump is done by all jumpers and is a sign that something is wrong with the approach. It is technically un-sound to stutter before the jump. In all of the furthest jumps there is no stuttering on the runway because that actually slows down the jumper and they will probably be to high and as a result not go as far. 99% will disagree because you are wrong if you think stuttering helps a jump.

  • Height does help in long jump because of this little thing called gravity. If long jumpers jumped straight out with no height they would never jump 26, 27, 28, or 29 feet. You jump up AND out to allow time for the decent and preparation for the landing to get every inch out of the jump. Long jump is extremely technical and if you think you can just run as fast as you can and jump and expect to be even close to world class you are sadly mistaken.

  • wow, very well said. youre right on.

  • ARMENIA

  • @gavedog

STFU Bob beamon and Mike Powell said in ian nterview height and speed are much important in long jump than every other discipline.

watch this video "Mike Powell: Usain Bolt can jump over 9 meters on Vimeo" than Sthut the fuck up forever

  • @Bajinjo Why are you even talking to me when I said the exact same thing you are saying now? I said height is very important...I also said its important to jump up and out which is impossible to do without speed....smh....maybe you should learn to read before you open your mouth and appear illiterate.

That being said, if you are talking about how tall a person is no...that does not matter as much as how HIGH a person gets on takeoff and throughout the jump.

  • @gavedog watch this video "Mike Powell: Usain Bolt can jump over 9 meters on Vimeo" than Sthut the fuck up forever

  • @Bajinjo Usain Bolt doesn't even do long jump.

  • @dwah6 Mike Powell said he'll be happy to train Bolt cause he thinks Bolt can be the number one in long jump cause of his take off potential, that's what i said

  • @gavedog 100% true i've heard that the higher your hips are to the jump and the right speed for forward momentum, you are able to carry your body farther than ever before, i can see how speed can serve a purpose but without lift you are going nowhere!

  • @gavedog

well there is full of retards on youtube dont waste text for them :d

like hello im 13 and i run 100mt in 10"3

  • its crazy how high he jumps in the air as well on this jump, so sick watching it in slo mo

  • Thanks for posting the vid! Emmiyan looks like he could have jumped further on a better track. His landing technique is just amazing.

  • Incredible!!!! He couldn't drop off

  • is this a dirt runway?

  • no, it wasn't.

  • Emmiyan is made of rubber. He's only 5'10 tall. Awesome.

  • probably

  • I searched this video for ages.

  • WHITE MAN CAN JUMP!! XD

  • armenians can jump!!!

  • lewis face at the end lmao

  • This is a brilliant and simple style of jump...It looks very easy:-).But the distance is unbelievable. I mean that this jump is the fourth longest jump on the world...behind the Powell, Lewis and Beamon...and I guess that is unbroken european record

  • good but not that good...its the 4th in terms that 3 have done better..

it was at altitude so although listed these are not recognised as official records. his best at low alt was 8.61...still pretty darn good, but without altitude that puts him 9th in terms of people, and some 40+ jumps have gone further..one just the other day.

  • nice potty mouth. please provide your counter argument in a logical manner without abuse and youll get respect. with posts like yours you make yourself look like a complete fool. oh btw please google the evidence. how can it be a lie if its well known fact in the public demain?..his best of 8.61 is what rates Emmiyan.

  • your parents taught you some bad things. dont you know that lying is a sin. you fuckin moron why do you have to lie about things like this. are you emmiyan`?? you jealous black idiot.

  • ah. racist too. for your info i am white and both my parents are russian. loser. ps and i love black people. who is the sinner?

  • hahah!! 19 years earlier bob beamen jumped 8.90 you jerk !

  • erm, you might want to check the "it was at altitude so although listed these are not recognised" part, beamon set 8.90 at altitude

  • jerk eh?...obviously you dont keep up with t&f. altitude records are no longer recognised by the iaaf, and historically have been discounted by competitors, officials and commentators. That is why they have an "A" next to them. In fact olympic games are no longer allowed to be held at altitude. There is also a cutoff altitude for venues hosting official events. first i get abused by some racist redneck then 2 clowns come in here to "point out" Beamon's jump. gimme a break.

  • @bnewman227

I think altitude records are still recognised by the IAAF. It's the statisticians who put an A next to performances set at 1000m+. It's just that the altitude records set in the past have all now been beaten & as you say very few major meetings are being held at altitude these days.

  • I've always wanted to see the Soviet hang glider's 8.86m, thanks very much.

  • Emmiyan was a great jumper. He was the greatest exponent of the hang/sail technique ever. Does anyone know what happened with him and the 1988 Olympics ?

  • He was injured.

  • It looks like the 5 meter mark is about 4 meters. I don't think the jump was more than 8 meters.

  • you are a stupid idiot

  • Compare with WC 1991 when Lewis/Powell jumped over 8,90m.

  • Oh my god, you can't compare these jumps, Lewis/Powwell's jumps were from the right angle, this jump is from the front, front angle is very deceptive. Btw, wind was +1.9. Aslo, I know that this place Emmiyan jumped at(Tsakhkadzor), is very strange xD

  • He doesn't look so happy after the jump. He just went out from the pit. Most people would probably go crazy if they saw that they were close to break the world record. :)

  • It depends on person, but I quite agree with you, if I jumped 8.8.., I would go crazy.

  • All the conditions were perfect. Jumping at altitude with a 1.9m/s wind.

  • Great video...isn't that Beamon at the end...nice editing Sas809...

  • It isn't my editing. This fantastic video is posted by ColectivoDMSR

  • Thank you very much!!!
