Does steriods improve athletic skills? speed and strength yes i would agree but it sure as hell will not increase actual playing skills. 1st you have to actually hit the ball before it goes anywhere. Steriods never has nor ever will increase that ability because if it did, then Babe Ruth and Hank Arron has a suspicion of guilt. Something else people seem to forget is that a number of years ago the major league aproved the rewinding of the offical ball.
Speed and strength do play a big role in baseball though. As it does in many sports. No, it's not going to give you the ability to hit the ball. But if you're already good at doing that, then it can make you hit the ball even harder. And because of that it'll give the player taking steroids an unfair advantage over the player that isn't taking steroids.
i don't buy that unfair advantage stuff! Example. some people are actually stronger because they may be eating a much better nutrional diet and working on their body a great deal more than the next guy. Even without steriods some will always be stronger or faster than the next guy or girl because they make better choices in how they train,diet.....ect ect ect. The fact is steriods does not icrease body strength as much as people seem to think. 15% is about the average in difference of strength
If you have the genetics to be stronger or faster you will be but nutrition and training go a long way in how much strength and speed you have. I don't think people take into account steriods can cause injuries to heal at a much faster rate. which is good if getting over injuries is a must in professional sports! That being said you can go way beyond the what should be safe use in any drug. I would think professional athletes would have more problems with pain killer addictions that streriod use
If you're stronger than another person naturally or because you just have a better workout plan then that's completely different from being stronger than that person because you took drugs. Steroids also have the ability to make you heal faster (as Andy Pettitte mentioned when he admitted using it). Which again gives you an unfair advantage.
People wouldn't risk taking these things which can have some very severe effects on your health if it wasn't going to help them in some way.
So 15% isn't alot in Major Leage Sports? Most of these guys would kill for that kind of edge! Let's just say they can hit the ball 15% further after steroids. Think about it. Getting an extra 40-60 ft on fly balls means more of them get out of the ball park. Not to mention your body comes through injuries alot faster. So, 15% is a huge deal.
The only people that anyone should feel sorry for are those in baseball that really weren't taken steroids but now are under suspicion because of people like A-Rod, Bonds, McGwire and Clemens. Those players must absolutely hate the Players Union for fighting against tougher drug testing initially.
I think every human being in the world should be required by law to report to the probation department every day to be pissed tested for every illegal substance possible at their own expense. All of those that fail to report (or pay) even one time should be apprehended and placed in a labor camp and forced to farm food for all the millions of people locked up in labor camps. Anyone that tests positive for any drug would be executed on the spot. Only then would life be fair and just.

Drugs/Steriods/AAS/Gear isn't messing up baseball, the stupid politicians and politics are. The juice doesn't make them go from a sh*t player to a good player, it just raises their already high natural potential which the fans all want to see.
And AAS isn't dangerous if you do it right. Prescription drugs are more dangerous than steriods and anything you can abuse can be dangerous, but the difference is, you go back to normal when you get off the juice. Not the same with other drugs.

Does steriods improve athletic skills? speed and strength yes i would agree but it sure as hell will not increase actual playing skills. 1st you have to actually hit the ball before it goes anywhere. Steriods never has nor ever will increase that ability because if it did, then Babe Ruth and Hank Arron has a suspicion of guilt. Something else people seem to forget is that a number of years ago the major league aproved the rewinding of the offical ball.

Speed and strength do play a big role in baseball though. As it does in many sports. No, it's not going to give you the ability to hit the ball. But if you're already good at doing that, then it can make you hit the ball even harder. And because of that it'll give the player taking steroids an unfair advantage over the player that isn't taking steroids.

If you have the genetics to be stronger or faster you will be but nutrition and training go a long way in how much strength and speed you have. I don't think people take into account steriods can cause injuries to heal at a much faster rate. which is good if getting over injuries is a must in professional sports! That being said you can go way beyond the what should be safe use in any drug. I would think professional athletes would have more problems with pain killer addictions that streriod use

If you're stronger than another person naturally or because you just have a better workout plan then that's completely different from being stronger than that person because you took drugs. Steroids also have the ability to make you heal faster (as Andy Pettitte mentioned when he admitted using it). Which again gives you an unfair advantage.
People wouldn't risk taking these things which can have some very severe effects on your health if it wasn't going to help them in some way.

3 strikes sounds like a good idea. But instead of wasting time testing everyone, just test the ones who are doing good or the ones who are doing good all of a sudden. No need to make it tough on the ones who are innocent.
