When I saw this (twice) during the 3D release in theaters, it took all of my willpower to not jump out of my seat and yell for joy at the end of this scene. That's what it does to me. :D
@Jedtumble lol me fucking too. I have decided to go back to where I grew up. Ya it's in the ghetto and it's sucks BS but I have to help them out, it makes no sense for me to just watch the same circle repeat and repeat. Wish me luck.
Ah no one's uploaded the alternative version, sucks :/
Rafiki: Does it matter? It's in the past!
Simba: Yeah but it still hurts.
Rafiki: Ah yes the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it! *Swings again and hits Simba a second time - Simba looks back angrily*
*Scene cuts to Timon, Pumbaa and Simba eating Rafiki*
I remember cheering on simba when he fought scar. I remember booing at Ursela when she took Arieal's voice. I remember fighting the Huns with Mulan. I remember the wind through my hair, running by Pocahontas. I remember being locked in the Beast's castle. I remember laughing and having fun with Mickey and his friends. I don't remember watching teen drama on stupid disney channel Copy and paste this to all your favorite Disney Videos and let's start a revolution. Disney Forever
0:52 Rafiki: Hey! where are you going?!?! Simba: I'm going Back! Rafiki: Good! go on!!! GET OUT OF HERE!! OUUUAHAHAHAHAHA hahahaha!! WOOOOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAHAHAA WOOOOOO WOOOOOOOO!!!
man, i love that part. just listen to rafiki's excitement..he knows what the significance of that decision was.oh and .i cheer like this at football games:)
This is my favorite part of the movie. Hearing "Busa" while Simba runs back and Rafiki cheers, with that starry sky crossed by shooting stars... it gives me chills
if you press pause at 0:27 at the right moment, you can see that Simba's head looks a little squashed when being hit by Rafiki's stick. It looks funny that way, don't you think?
I hadn't watched this film in about 10 years, until recently when I went to see it in 3D with my cousin...and I swear, it was a total deja vu moment for me because it reminded me of when I watched it in theaters when I was 6...I am now 21 and I still laughed just as hard at this scene as I did the first time I saw it in theaters. THAT is the power of The Lion King.
People talk about "chill moments" in movies. They throw in some good candidates, say, the escape from Shawshank or the ending of Dead Poets Society. They talk about a lot of middling ones (aka, any long speech from a mediocre movie they like- we all have one).
To me, none can top this one. I'm dead serious. When Simba takes off, and the music kicks in, and Rafiki howls in glee with his arms in the air... it's pure cinematic magic.
Is it strange that this part in the film really encouraged me to deal with my past.
Because it really is helped.
