Man I tried to destroy that thing with the A-10 as well. Still died like 5 times. This mission is getting on my nerves like crazy!! I hit that big plan like 8 times with it and it never went down. There was nothing else to hit. Then went after the others. Shot 2 down and then I got shot down lol. I actually did better with the F-14

The second time, I though unguided bombs (UGB) would be fun, so I used the SU-47 Idolmaster with those. That was also pretty easy.

The one thing I hadn't thought of was using the bomblet dispenser on the Tornado Gr.4. I hate this weapon. It sucks on ground targets, so I thought it had to suck on air targets. I equipped that and beat the mission quicker than I ever did using AA weapons on fighters. Man are unconventional ways of killing things fun :D

I was pretty bored, so I decided to try to beat this mission in tough ways. Turns out these tough ways were actually easier than using AA weapons.

First, I used the A-10A Idolmaster (DLC) with FAEB. Damn was that easy, I beat it in about 3 min. The Idolmaster version of the A-10 can go over 1200knts so I got to the cruiser pretty fast.

I remember my friends and I used this stratagy in the Co-op mission a few weeks after the game came out. Im amazed this many people still dont know about this trick. It looks even cooler when your way off from it, looks like theirs a huge Mushroom cloud XD

This mission is insane; it took me 2 hours and 8 tries until I used the vulcan missiles to pass the mission in 8 minutes. I was so pissed that at the ending i was thinking:

@sireofdarkness The A-10 flies high when it's not on an attack run. It can fly very high in fact, but usually it's flying low so that it can shoot tanks with its cannon.

If you're quick enough, you can take them out when you bomb the main plane carrying them. I was able to take a few out that way, the rest can be hunted down. Alternatively, If you take out all the cruisers, you complete the mission.

Rockets are more effective at this, equip them on something like the Su-33 and fire away. This mission can be done and dusted in less time than that as the Flanker is faster and more mobile. The A-10 is incredibly useless in this game as every other plane does it's job faster. And for those asking about Ace of Aces, It's DLC missions.

Great idea man.

But try it on Ace of Aces, and you get raped. Trust me, you need something with a little better air to air than an A-10 to take fend off everything else. It works best with an F-22 or Su-47 against the Strigon and somewhat well with an Su-33.

THANKS SSSOOO MUCH!!! Before I tried to destroy the ships with a Tornado with Bomblet dispercal and kept getting owned by Strigon. For some reason using an A-10 with fuel-air explosives stopped Strrigon team from attacking me. Then pushing and holding "down" to activate "Allied cover" finished off the mission for me. Thanks alot for the tip, saved me weeks of frustration (and a couple controllers)

F-15 worked well for me, but the first time I was able to beat that mission was using the a-10 lol. A-10, the ultimate air to air combat plane lol. As for strigon, the a-10s cannon only needs to have a single round hit and they are gone, or close to it anyway.

I used the SU 33 with rockets. I tried using that stratgegy but I kept either missing with the fuel air bombs or I ended up crashing into the aigion. Rockets were able to finish off the smaller cruisers on the first shot. You just gotta make sure all the rockets hit from the top of the ship.

Using the fuel-air bombs is a stroke of genius. Like many people I used the SU-33 and found myself forced to use the guns extensively while constantly shaking incoming missiles. I also used allied strikes to keep the Strigon off my back. When I finished, I couldn't quite believe I'd done it at all. My previous five attempts had all ended in early disaster.

i was just playing this level with a fighter. after like 7 tries i managed to wipe every last plane and leave only aiagon. i then shot down all it's turrets and the engines got exposed. A lot of fire and i was a little low on HP, so i was being really careful. at one point i managed to shoot down all but one engine.

i was aiming that final shot, and then i got hit by a rkt and died. HOLY CRAP i haven't been this mad in ages. over almost two hours of effort gone to waste (counting all tries)

The gun on the A-10, A.K.A. the Gau-8 can take out the strigon team like its no one's business. Use the target zoom to aim when you're technically out of gun range.
