One thing I am sure of... if there is a war, Lee Myung Bak will be the first to fly out of the country.

This sk ship sinking incident is another good boost for sk's covert arms race with it's neighbors. People now realize NK is a true, and a real regional threat (regardless of lacking conventional millitary force). Another great excuse for Japan to restart it's nuclear warhead program.

War is a risky card and lee myung bak is not the cowboy type. What's necessary is to adopt Israeli style(Mossad like organization) covert sting operations against North Korea's hidden and public assets, to cripple them financially and politically.

N.Korea should not be tolerated for this incident. I'm definitely supprt the S.Korea's new sanctions on N.Korea. The president Lee is on the right path of dealing with N.Korea. We have a proot that the sunshine policy didn't work.

N. Korea doesn't have the capability for all-out war, and it's doubtful they'll jump the gun, even with somebody as unpredictable as Kim Jong Il. He may be delusional and removed from reality, but he's also very concerned about self-preservation--he knows if it went to all-out war that they'd be in serious trouble.

China meanwhile likes its economic growth, and wouldn't want to jeopardize that with a country that's becoming more of a liability.

@sugasugaki Note that China does extract the North's natural resources at VERY good prices because Jong-Ill is so desperate for hard cash. So China is stuck between a rock and a hard place (not unlike the South).

Probably the best that South Korea could do. North Korea needs to know that in the long term, this is a strategic mistake for North Korea as now both South Korea and Japan will bolster their military which would no doubt annoy China as well. If there is going to a war between the two, then North Korea is going face an even tougher foe.

I am hoping there won't be another war because if there's a 2nd war in Korea, the whole world economy will collapse due to current Europe crisis. So the best solution is just keep ease on with North Korea. Why don't we let them invite to 2nd nuclear summit meeting? and provide them a new economic system so that once Korea is united,Korea could lead powerful nation.
