  • wow 86 thtsit ive seen a fully loaded 126 car

  • Man... That whole platform is wayyy to small for freight trains going thru there at that speed on that track.

  • get a life dude....

  • the yellow line is too close

  • As a conductor in SoCal, I saw stuff like steel bands on lumber bundles sticking out 2 or 3 feet from the side of the car. You foamers really should think about your recording locations. You could lose your head. It also scares the crew, thinking that you might step too close. We really don't want to see someone get killed by one of our trains.

  • Well since this video is posted on Halloween, no wonder the train came so close

  • Comment removed

  • Reser and Dekoy graffiti artists from Vancouver at 0:47!

  • that's close dude, you might want to rethink that, that's really hard on us as crews

  • 86 CARGOS !!! WOAAH

  • @MrOwenzzz

that's nothing... you should see the video I captured this summer.... way more then 86! (I have not uploaded it yet)

  • 84!

  • @FERRCAT I make it 85!

  • Not quite close enough. An inch perhaps?

  • You should have jumped on the back! I do it all the time here in the UK.

  • ".......that was scary shit..." LOL

  • One loose chain and you would missing some teeth...or worse.

  • I wonder what sound that is right before the train passes by. It's not the engine making the noise but almost like the train was releasing it brakes or at least applying it.

  • Was that SP I saw on the first loco?

  • @Hightrain12 CP

  • was?

  • jesus allmost 100 carriages 0_o

  • @MrWrighty5

    This video has 138 cars...

    watch?v=xIzKwhtHp6A

  • @LanceCampeau bloody long train either way.

  • Big whoop, I've stood that close to a 150 MPH Amtrak Acela!

  • @TH3GR1FF13

The Acela is designed to quietly cut through the wind... This is a 20 foot high container train doing 60MPH... its like driving a 2 story house through the wind.... big & loud!

  • Buncha wussies where is this close???

  • each wheel made a sound as it came by. beasty load. lol idk trains are pretty cool tho.

  • That train went on forever!

-With cargoes like that it's hard to understand why the North American economy is flagging.

  • could you imagine if someone was under there and they lifted up their head and died

  • that train was long! O_o

  • 0:18 I shit my pants

  • too long train ! :O

  • Who the hell designed that platform? That is way too close! LOL

  • Yes, very close! Great colour too!

  • thx for these videos they make my son sooo happy :D

  • Dayum Lance, that thing is hauling ass! :|

  • There really is a god if u happened to come away from that ok imagine if ther was loose srtapping

  • When I go down to New York, one of my favourite places to railfan is the tiny station at Manitou on Metro-North's line along the Hudson River. The trains used to haul through there upwards of 85MPH, and the platform is a bit narrower than the one here. Unfortunately, they recently put in a pair of crossovers there, and the speeds seem to have dropped by ~20MPH. It was fun while it lasted...

  • I just love the ending. BRILLIANT.

  • what is scary about this?

  • Hey Lance, was it breezy at all? Whew!

  • Did you film it yesterday (OCT 31) ? If so, it must have been quite freezy with that cold day at all that wind ! I went downtown Montréal yesterday, left my gloves home, and had some pain to my hands :P

  • This platform is too narrow at this place. This is not enough safer for train commuter users.

  • well i guess hes highballin at track speed, maybe 60mph!

  • Worrying the crew juuuuust a bit...

This would be CP 153. :)

  • holly crap! Imagine if there would have been some loose strapping

  • na u couldof been closer

  • I concur. That was, indeed, some scary shit.

    XD

  • If I were you I would have been flipping balls the whole time.

  • I love trains but we all have to admit they are flying pieces of metal that could fall of the tracks and on you at any time. We really do risk our lives every time we get that close-up picture of a speeding train. Personally I stay about 10 to 7 feet away from a train (when its highballing). If I would want a close up of a speeding train just leave the camera by the tracks and step back and when the train passes walk up to it and stop the tape.

  • Dangerous! A metal piece could be ejected from a car at any time. Or a chemical hopper with the hatch not properly closed.

It gave a good result on tape, thought.

  • yeah, I'm on the train platform in Ile Perrot, QC.... behind me here is a tightly fenced corner... no where to go... I didn't think he would be running so quick... I had to hold my camera and my hat!

  • Lance, I used to get that close all the time. Then I realized that it probably gives the crew a heart attack more than me (because I got used to it). So for the sake of the crews, I took a few steps back.

  • Lance, that was incredible and incredibly lucky.I know you have a very expensive camera and your reaction says it all...Becareful my friend I would like too shoot with ya one day around the Quebec/Ontario boarder.Talk later..

  • Hence the fines are so wildly high when a car goes around the barrier.I like what NEC1228 says about a scanner and something that I will look into when I get back too Canada.Plus being that close and the pressures on the air exerted by the train that sends cameras flying and the cost of your personal possessions.Your cameras are darn expensive and one little mistake,I can't bare the thought.

  • It can certainly have its moments for sure. Although C.N.R and C.P.R have a property issue with Trainspotters as they want you 50' from the middle of the closest track too you. Now we know there are certain areas like the station with the yellow line and the " DO NOT CROSS THE YELLOW LINE " stuff but also at level crossings. But with crossings bare in mind that, that area falls under the Highway traffic Act and different rules.

  • I'd be scared shitless myself

  • Where is this?

  • I had that happen to me few times. you think the train is going to be on the far track and by the time you realize its on the close track, its too late to move your camera. Plus if you walk away from the camera its likely to get blown over. Now I use my scanner and listen to what track the trains are coming on so I can plan accordingly but man, it really is scary to be that close!

  • @Nec1228 Amen man!!!

  • To make it scarier get that close at night.

  • AMAZING 5 Thumbs up... 5 stars ...5 Smiley faces.. 5 High Fives... 5 Woo Ahhs...

  • I've been closer and its even more scaryer!

  • cool thing, but i dont get it why they dont pack the train more aerodinamicly this train get just to much wind resistance being packed like that

  • @warezvz It's not like it makes a big difference in canadian railroading. It's quicker just to make up a train without thinking of aerodynamics and to send it on it's way. It would take longer to actually plan the train consist with aerodynamics in mind... and honestly... a ton of big square boxes doesn't provide great aerodynamics no matter what order the cars are in.

  • @boo2277

i know that planing makes it difficult and such but i see how much they are working on aerodynamic cars and busses and planes and such and on trains 0 not even all pasanger trains are aerodinamicly made
