@vnuwaifo When you meet Saint Peter at the gates of Heaven and he asks for your name, when you tell him "my name is...", then the James Bond theme should play. The theme that plays when you enter should be the Star Wars theme by John Williams. When you walk around in heaven this song should play.
hello iam serching somethime version live if is possible of the persuaders . thank. Hola estoy buscando versiones de el tema de dos tipos audaces (tehe persuaders), attenti a quei due, si es posible de una orquesta en vivo . Muchas gracias a alguno que pueda subir en youtuve . Alejandro.
What a fantastic piece of music! When I listen to this I always imagine myself on an ice rink skating at the World Championships! What daydreams can do for you!!
@pinkmums Know what you mean. Music can be so evocative. This always reminds me of Saturday nights and an old brit guy who used to live in the apartment upstairs. Regular as clockwork he'd have this hooker, Stacia, come round weekends and she'd throw cookies called 'custard creams' at him while he stood naked in a tin bath while this played on repeat. Kinda drove me nuts sometimes but reminds me of happier times.
I've been a fan of John Barry since I was a kid and grew up with his music. He definitely has his own style, but WHAT a style! He's a remarkable composer. As for film composition, I think my top three are Barry, the late Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams... but it would be very hard to pick between them. :-)
Rich music from an era that was spiritually rich. I was lucky enough to grow up in the sixties when people had less materially but even the commercials had quality and space - unlike the loud, in-your-face, jarring media of today. Real talent, like John Barry, was allowed to prevail back then whereas today we are directed to idolise talentless 'celebrities' and endure cacophonous tv ads intent on 'dumbing us down'. Life is louder and faster now, but less productive and without real substance.
I adore this song so much it's like a rich dessert covered in cream. It was used as music to advertise Sunsilk Shampoo in the UK for women. When I heard the full version I just fell inlove with it. It has a melancholy tone with a wistful air and is just beautiful - thank you for this. xx
There really is no one like John Barry. The richness and depth of his arrangements are just mind numbing, and just when you think you've heard it all he throws in little musical surprises and subtle instrumental contradictions. Whether its ephemeral music, or bond skiing down a mountain, he captures the mood of the moment like no other.
John Barry is one of a kind and like Bond, no one does it better.
This tune is based on Ravel's Introduction and Allegro - the first time I heard the Ravel I thought, hang on, this is the shampoo advert music. Don't know if John Barry has ever acknowledged this.
David Arnold has done a good job and managed to keep a John Barry feel to it. Eric Serra tho a great musician didnt have the same style for a bond film.
The Bond films just havent been the same without him. It's a shame that Pierce Brosnan never got to be in a Bond film with one of John Barry's lush scores.
I used to listen to this on John Barry's "Greatest Hits" Album whilst studying somewhere in the early 1970s. It was transcendent then - the orchestration & feeling matches any and all. And the subject is ....? Forget it. John Barry has always been one of a kind and more.
I agreed entirely re your reference to James Bond. The first time I heard this track, I immediately thought of Bond, cloak & dagger, intrigue etc. It could quite easily have slotted into a Bond film!
Maybe somewhere in his mind when he wrote this,he had a thought that someday he,d do something like this for a movie, hence the bond music he,s done for a for of those movies.
all the trouble they went to writing a tune for a shampoo ad. Modern day MOVIE themes dont even come close. What a load of shit we get served up nowadays - it makes you want to cry!
First listened to this on a 50s and 60s compilation cd about eight years ago. It really does take one to another time and place. Thank you for posting.
Sunsilk.. what an awesome melody... and arrangement.. Goldfinger .. bond.. so so evocative of the 60's and early 1970's. as a writer and composer John Bary was up there with Beethoven et al. Mking THE most of the technology of the time to make MUSIC with such feeling.
This must be the most wasted piece of music ever composed. It is worthy of a James Bond film, but John Barry actually wrote it for a 1967 Sunsilk Shampoo advertisement on ITV. Unfortunately it predated home video recorders, so nobody has put the actual ad on Youtube. I wonder whether anyone captured it with a cine camera? As I remember, it was beautifully filmed, and suited the music perfectly.
