@fixmyplaystation I really do not know, since i bought it a week ago knowing it has YLOD, i just wanted the drive to take it and put it on another ps3 that miss its drive.
it was jammed and followed your video and was fixed. but when i insert the disc it will not spin.
by the way the PS3 with YLOD is CECHE01 (Kem400) 80GB and the one it miss the drive is CECHK04 80GB (i think its drive should be KES410).
@fixmyplaystation Thank you alot; i had doubts it may work. but the board is missing with the drive. it is for a friend of mine he sent it to repair, when he brought it back it was missing the drive. i told him to go to the guy and bring back the drive but he refuse. is there any board that can fit to it or i must say good bye to try fixing the ps3
@3absiso If it's missing the drive, he's screwed. You MUST have the original controller board that came with the drive. Only option is to call PSR1 near Pittsburgh. Look up their website.
I know my 3 yr old has jammed something into mine. Just not sure what. I have a PS3 slim. I tried to remove discs manually as seen in another of your videos, only had a 000 screwdriver and nothing came out. I removed the outer cover completely but cannot work out how to open up the hard drive to look...
@NeppyJo If there are 3 screws on the top front of the drive, you'll need to remove both the power supply and drive... then remove the drive covers. If you only have 1 screw (CECH2501 models) on the top front middle of the drive, you can remove the cover without removing the drive.
Hi my ps3 started to make little noises everytime I put a disc in. It would still read the disc though. Then it started making grinding noises but still it would read the disk. But yesterday it made the most loudest grinding noise ever and worst of all the disk won't go in it only goes half way. Please help. My ps3 is a slim model

are those little springs necessary for the motor to push in and out the disc. when i insert a cd, it dosn't get pushed in. when i turned on the ps3 the motor would turn on.
Hi i have just replaced the lens assembly and reset the drive by your very informative video but the ps3 is still not taking discs(not making any noises or any attempt to grab disc). i'm not getting the 3 bleeps when you press eject with no disc in and the only part that thats attempting to move is the laser. any ideas? thanks
Hey so I unjammed the drive, now it takes in discs but they wont come out. It makes the sounds of it pushing out but the disc will not go. What should I do?
My son put 4 dvds in my launch ps3. Sad to say it doesnt work anymore. It doesnt read a disk & i dont hear it spinning either. It takes a disk in & i can eject it when i press the button but it doesnt play any disks. What could the problem in the disk drive be? Or would it just be easier to replace the whole diskdrive? & where can i buy a disk drive?

i had the same one (Kem400aaa). when i insert the ps3 disc it will not spin at all (not 1 mm).
i checked the mechanisms it all works perfectly and the laser it focus but the disc will not spin.
what are the possibilities to check?

@3absiso Did it stop spinning before you opened it? Did you replace the laser? Will it play a movie DVD?

@3absiso You can't transfer drive control boards into another machine. You can only transfer the drive itself.

@laithkhan0213 You might have a crushed drive, or you might have some foreign object blocking the drive gears.

@monteiroafroman That might be a record. We've seen 4 discs, and 1 disc 2 earrings and a credit card, and various amounts of pennies and quarters.

@flamekush Every part is necessary. Sounds like your drive gears need to be reset.

@991skippy Still not taking discs? What was the original problem? Check the power and data connections for the drive.
