  • awesome video,, great information,,, I am gonna check this school out

  • hmm.. 2:45 two guys have (induced) malfunctions.. neither of them properly executed the malfunction drill, they just racked the slide. An unseated magazine would have led to another failure. There's no point to training if you only ingrain bad habits.

  • I bet shooting and moving is difficult, GBA.

  • Ron Paul 2012!!!!

  • I'm sending this video to everyone on my Freedom News list.

A very well done video and the subject matter rocks!

    Thanks D!

  • Nice video, I can't wait until I can carry. It sucks to be young and without the security of anything more than a knife. Anyway, thanks for the video!

  • guns are not allowed

  • ya con el cuerpo que tiene ese Mike Lau, no puede enseñarle a nadie nada, gordo fofo

  • @grabisoft eso fue un chiste? porque nadie se esta riendo...

  • you guys talk all this stuff about shooting in all this different ways , let me tell you this when it comes down to shooting in a life or death time it don't matter just make sure you know how to put lead on the dam target !

  • @rodneyreal38 That's exactly why we "talk all that stuff"! Firing from below or above your target, and your orientation to that target requires different aim-points.Someone begins firing in a public place, the first thing you should be doing is moving to cover and presenting your weapon, as you move, you fall, the gunman's attention is on you, you hurriedly draw your firearm to shoot, if you don't compensate for your position-YOU WILL MISS! and that gets the wrong people shot. You are now a liability

  • This looks very fun. I may have to do this at some point! I'm already a gun owner, but I've never taken training like this.

  • Forget about pistols in Europe.... This sucks :)

  • I think that these types of classes should be a prerequisite to CCW. Both my parents have CCW, and especially for my mother. I don't think that it's enough. You don't need to just be familiar with your gun you need to know it inside out, upside down, backwards, and sideways. So that when your life is on the line, you come out on top. Great video Sootch, love your channel.

  • Man, wish ida known i would have loved to go! Please PM me the next time! I would love to have a job teaching stuff like that. We need to hook up sometime soon! Love the vids man!

  • Glock 17 ran flawless... I don't believe it... lol

  • Love the "Liberty or Death" shirt :)

  • Great video Sootch! Best wishes.

  • i wish i was an American. enjoy your freedom fellas. God bless America :)

  • @waseem1173 I love you. You are more American than most of the people here. Come over? You can live with me.

  • @StriveforTrueFreedom aw Thank you :) and that's a very generous offer lol

if only hehe maybe sometime in my life i will be able to afford the move. I am being optimistic when it comes to this child hood dream/desire of mine. :-)

  • @waseem1173

Americans need guns to defend themselves and their freedom from their own government these days, so you may want to think twice about wishing to be american

  • @mrNotorious1994 Sad but true!

It is a shame that a small elite group of evil individuals has infiltrated the government and are subverting it from within.

    Their days are numbered....

  • thats why i train with the cheapest possible ammo like herters. because they are consistent with at least 1 f2f in 15. its great for training failures. only use the good ammo for your carry.

  • @carolinagrills ..Yeah....I think after you have 1000 rounds through your primary pistol, things should be just about instinctive. I'm thinking I could probably strip and reassemble my 1911 blindfolded. lol

  • This is basically what Nutnfancy does in every one of his videos.

    Just sayin'.. ;D

  • Good video, great advice! Everyone should get some training. We shouldn't be REQUIRED to take any training in order to carry, but I can't recommend training enough. Also, one of these days I'll take my own advice, since it is reinforced by Mrs. Tinocker, and take some training courses for myself.

  • Excellent!

  • Good video. A lot of good information

  • were they doing edged weapon vs drawing a gun there? love workin with that. always a major threat when an aggressor has a weapon, any weapon for that matter, makes a world of difference to keep movin' while drawing, charging, and discharging the weapon. we train like that all the time.

  • Looked like sootch was one of, or the most competent shooter there.

  • sootch you and nutnfancy are in my opinion 2 of the best reviews and over all level headed men on youtube teaching the general public about firarms and the safety of them great review i was thing on getting a Sig 2022 any suggestiongs?

  • Did they not encourage the "tap and rack" method of dealing with a non-fire? I just noticed in the two short clips you showed that neither of you tapped the magazine.

Also, Moving, one-handed, non-dominate shooting. Whoa! I've never practiced that.

    Great video!

  • Ambidextrous! Wow I am impressed! I guess in a SHTF situ, I might have to rack my gun with my thigh if I am hurt.... Never really thought of this.

  • Love your video.

I take issue with your comments about "reloaded ammo" painted with such a broad brush.

Carelessly-reloaded ammo would be a more appropriate term, IMO.

    Take care.

  • why in god's name would you go at a pistol shooting training camp unless you are a police officer or a soldier? What are you 10 ? Where do you plan to use your pistol ? defense against angry rotting tomatoes? Anyway on the bright side , since people are IDIOTICALLY allowed to bear arms in America, it's a good thing they are at least getting familiar with their pistol to avoid shooting a toe off.

Now don't get all trigger happy there Rambo.

  • i was donig some mining in s.c a few weeks ago

  • CCW. lol

  • I believe it is safe to say, that when even Sootch says that he had a non-jam range day, that little fact of a "looming jam", has moved me to carry a J-frame revolver, instead of my camo BHP, or Witness semi pistol. Yes, I know "5 rounds vs 6,7,8,9,13,15". I've seen so many 9mm JHP-not-doing-as-engineered, that the old 38 Special 158gr-wadcutter/semiwadcutter still works. My CCW class DID teach those things. Practice, know your gun, muscle memory, aim low, put them down.

  • i suggest watching the Magpul videos I have n they are awsome

  • I like the idea of loading a few dummy rounds while practicing. gonna do that a few times each time im out.

  • I am about to make a similar video re: the NRA home defense class I took yesterday... So much more in depth than the CCW class... Talked about shooting multiple targets... Shooting with speed and accuracy.. Home defensive strategies... Well worth the time and money!

  • Sweet video buddy

  • @sailingmanuel You should join me some time. This was a blast!

  • Very informative video for me, Thank you Sootch00

  • i think you mixed up their names in the beginning

  • I'm sure HPR is good it just cost to damn after a normal day at the range I would have spent enough on ammo to buy another gun. I'll have to stick to my Russian and blazer :(

  • Excellent Video!

    Great Pointers!

Paper is Paper and The Real Deal is The Real Deal!

    God Bless

    Semper Fi

  • What different kind of guns were people using in the training besides Glocks and 1911s?

  • I concur with your thoughts on this subject, Sootch. I've barely been a gun owner for a year but have taken an NRA Basic Handgun course, NRA Pistol for Home Defense, and a level 1 & 2 Tactical handgun course locally. Our local CA ranges pretty much only allow us to practice the basics of markmanship, but to really learn to run our guns, we have to take tactical firearms courses. Much more fun than just plinking. Been using a CZ P-01 in these courses and it has functioned 100%.

  • any tips for long term AMMO storage?

  • Great video Sootch00. Really motivating and appreciate the time putting the video together with well thought out dialog.

  • Awesome. I really want to take a course like this. I think these are extremely necessary to anyone who intends to carry at any point.

  • @sootch00 I highly reccomend you reload the gun parallel to your face and the target, because if you look down while reloading when your threats generally in front of you, you have to worry about looking in 2 directions, where if you just center the gun towards your face while doing the reload it will benefit you because you could do 2 critical things while looking in 1 direction.

  • i would be the only person rocking a cz-52 with hollow points i know that haha! probably not hollow points for practice but still!

  • The thing I see most people fault out on is they read "gunfighting", stop at "gun", master the mechanical aspects, and consider themselves finished. When I teach I stress that the skill is FIGHTING first and foremost, and that the weapon is secondary to terrain reading, body mechanics and observation of the opponent. Adding weapon mechanical skills into that makes it a whole working system.

  • Vids like this make petit tyrants wet their pants. :-)

  • I agree with you! I took a 4 day defensive hand gun course at Front Sight in Navada and after taking that I think everyone that plans to carry should take a course like that because you learn for more than just a CCW class!!!

  • Mike and Reggie out there at SC Gun School are2 great guys and really know their business. Haven't met Ron, but if he is working with them, he's top notch. Looks like you had some serious fun.

  • ...That looked like a fun class, if your going to buy a pistol for defence, it's best to get real familiar with it.

  • Great great video. I need to take a class. Mick. One.

  • My shooting range allows you to stand or sit and shoot at one target with no more than 1 shot per second. I should add it's also the only shooting range here. Yeah, I have to move.

  • @Ninety9Soulz Or you could live where I am and not shoot at all. Goddam british gun control...

  • @Borbonization That's true, I feel for ya man

  • @Ninety9Soulz i take it you didnt have room to make your own personal range?

  • @Brick12343 No way, if I pulled my shotgun out in my backyard and started cranking off rounds SWAT would be there before I could finish typing this comment lol

  • Looks like ton of fun.

  • Sootch love your videos man, this one really hit home about knowing your firearm and how to work it incase of a misfire. Thank you for all the work that you do to help us learn.

  • great vid :)

  • great video :) !!

  • Awesome vid!!

  • That dummy round thing is a really cool idea.

  • Great video Sootch, looks like a lot of fun. And good moves too!

  • I would not downplay the importance of encouraging people to go to the range or get their CCW. If that is all people can do it is still good to stay active with these activities. I know you probably did not mean it that way but it kind of came across that you were downplaying the role of CCW and range practice.

  • @ArtisanTony Hey Tony, In no way do I want to downplay CCW or range practice. On the other hand, I think self defense training far exceeds basic range practice. It's just moving to the next level. I applaud anyone who takes the first step in gun ownership, so anything more is a good thing. Rock on Bro~

  • @sootch00 Your the man sootch! :) Thanks!

  • @sootch00 great vid sootch

  • Great video, and looks like awesome training.

  • Well Said Well Spoken!!!

  • Xe (Blackwater) isn't too far from Sootch. Classes are pricey but it's worth it.

  • Great video!

  • got hpr?

  • I couldn't agree more. It is really sad how many conceal-carry permit holders are out there who don't train. As a certified instructor, I try and stress the importance of quality training, not just going to the range and shooting. I don't think the amount of responsibility as a conceal-carry holder really sets into people's minds. They carry the firearm without really mentally preparing themselves for the "moment of truth".

  • thats amazing

  • Great video, when you cleared your weapon did they stress the "tap and rack" technique?

  • i think that 2nd time i seen vid on that school i think tex done it to

  • Cool stuff! good info..

  • another great vid hope to see more

  • I live in spartanburg and had no idea these guys were here. I'm embarrassed. Thanks for the info sootch.

  • I live in spartanburg and had no idea these guys were here. Thanks sootch.

  • Now THAT was a fun day. Yeeha.

  • Thanks Sootch for the fine vid, a most important subject and of much greater interest than watching the countless (and mostly useless) YouTube paper-punching exercises we always see out there. Looking forward to further videos on top-notch training like this.

  • Sootch prepping for an airsoft skirmish :)

  • woohoo, great vid Sootch! It's clear you've trained before, lol.

  • AWESOME VIDEO!!!You didnt have enough mistakes on this one..The very end was to short.

  • The only difference between training and the real thing is stress.

  • That looks like a lot of fun

  • sootch ,stop killing the lames, great vid .help out the mall ninjas...god bless god speed...

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Man that looks like fun!

  • This was a good topic to touch on Sootch. People like the novelty of carrying a concealed weapon but not many people go the extra step and train with it. The good ol boy attitude of just carrying a gun, will unfortunately get you killed. They also don't realize that when in a defensive situation, you are already at a disadvantage, and that's when practice will save your ass! NIce vid!

  • Sootch ,your a bad ass..

  • it looks like IDPA!

  • Plinking and fighting are totally different. You must take a class like this to be able to fight.

  • Great vid.

  • Thanks Sootch

  • 2:16 made me lol

  • When tax time comes and i have some extra cash im taking one of these courses, i live in Greenville SC, gona take my FNP 9.

  • Sootch have you checked out presidio defense? I am wanting to give them guys a shot.....

  • Yeb, it takes more than a weapons permit! Every idiot can pull a trigger...

These kind of classes should be a prerequisite for (especially) a concealed / defensive firearms licence!!

  • @delta66able Problem with that is anti-gun politicians will jump on it making the quals & red tape impossible to pass. Look at NYC for example. If you were every late paying a parking ticket, the police can deny your application for a concealed carry permit. May issue permit laws are anti-2nd amendment, that's what your enabling, so I have to disagree with it. It's ultimately up to the individual to take the personal responsibility & get professional training - not the state govt forcing it.

  • If Ron Paul wins the SC Primary in January then I'm changing it to my home of record from Ohio and moving there when I ETS.

  • other then DPT what other classes have you taken and how did you like them?

  • Great Video!! Eight hours!!? How much Ammunition to bring?

  • @mradams12189 there website says at least 400 rounds

  • @mradams12189 most 8 hours classes requier between 200-250 rounds.... do a google search for fire arms training in your area....

  • @mradams12189 We took 500 rd and shot it all. They let us go until we were out of ammo!

  • When he put his Team Sootch shirt on that morning, did he know you were gonna be there???

Otherwise, great points, thanks for all of your videos!

  • @sicarii1138 He bought the Team Sootch Shirt at the Prepper Conference the week before. I had no idea he even had one until we pulled up. Yes, Mike knew we were coming : ) Both he and Ron are top notch. Thanks~

  • Great video, and recommendation on the class.

  • Every minute spent, every round expended in such a training course is a stone laid into in the way of a violent criminal.

I hope what I just said doesn't suffer too much from translation into English. :)

  • Nice *****video

  • I LIVE IN AZ WANT TO GO TO GUNSITE

  • great stuff

  • I was just discussing this subject with my Uncle today. It's not enough to just have a CC and permit. You gotta train for and be prepared for any situation. Wish we had this type of school here in Hawai'i (with better gun laws).

  • @IslandGuyCJ2000 Better gun laws?

How about you wish for no gun laws? ;)

  • @Skullchaser08 That's what I meant.

  • @IslandGuyCJ2000 That's the spirit! :D

  • Cool video, Thanks for sharing. Take care my friend.

  • I love this kepp it up

  • Everyone after this comment is a liberal

  • Very Important.
